Corded Tool Reviews

Our corded tool reviews include corded saws, routers, sanders and grinders, and more. We try to ascertain the best compound miter saws, perform jobsite table saw shootouts, to name a few. When it comes to corded tools, often power is key. Our power tool reviews try to determine whether a new product has advanced features or specs. Once we understand what’s new we can then test the tool to get a feel for it and see if it’s truly an upgrade. Corded Tool Reviews for Pros When we look at tools like rotary hammers or even oscillating multi-tools, we try to determine which tools have the least vibration while performing the most work. A power tool may be able to provide more power, but at the expense of ergonomics. Other tools add great features, but sacrifice in other areas. We evaluate the whole tool, so that we get the entire picture.

Dremel Trio Kit 6800-01 Review

Dremel Trio 6800 Review

At this point we’d have to say that there is no reason not to have a few Dremel tools around the shop. The Trio is yet another product that is simply easy to use and handy for a variety of tasks, from sanding to cutting to routing. The trick with the Dremel is understand its target market. This isn’t a professional’s tool – simply because it’s flexibility precludes it from being the very best at anything that it does – but it IS extremely flexible, and provides a value that is almost unheard of and unseen in the marketplace. Like the MultiMax before it, this is one of those tools that makes a great gift for any DIY or enthusiast.

Skil Octo Sander 7302 Preview

Skil Power Tools recently launched its new 7302 Octo Multi-Finishing Sander. The novel thing about this particular sander is the presence and inclusion of eight assorted attachments. The options make it uniquely suited to sand hard-to-reach areas and multi-task by hitting multiple surfaces at once, or more effectively sanding particular, or hard-to-reach places. Skil also added something it calls Pressure Control Technology to the 7302. The technology involves a series of pressure control lights that indicate when the user is pressing too hard, too light or just right. It’s a neat idea that is meant to help keep scars and marks off the wood and ensures optimal surface smoothness.

DeWalt DW368 Heavy Duty 7-1/4" Lightweight Circular Saw Review

DeWalt DW368 Heavy Duty 7-1/4″ Lightweight Circular Saw Review

It might sound like a misnomer to say both heavy-duty and lightweight in the same sentence but this is exactly what DeWalt calls its DW368 Heavy Duty 7-1/4″ Lightweight Circular Saw. This saw has been a mainstay on job sites for many years and for good reason. With a decent set of features, a reasonably cost and plenty of power, many construction workers have chosen this as their sidewinder of choice. While we normally like to review the latest and greatest products that come to market, sometimes is fun to step back and see what the average Joe is using and why.

Milwaukee Dual Temperature Heat Gun Review 8975-6

The Milwaukee 8975-6 11.6 Amp Dual Temperature Heat Gun might look a little like your wife’s hair dryer but it really is a serious hand-held high heat throwing machine. With two temperature settings of 570 and 1,000 degrees F, you can pretty much peel the paint off of almost anything without having to worry about the issues that come with open flames. With a continuous duty rating, you can also plan on being able to work this tool non-stop for as long as you need it.

Ridgid Table Saw Preview

Ridgid Table Saw Preview

The Ridgid table saw has been popular among those looking for a tool offering a tremendous bang for their buck. While they have two currently shipping models (and likely no more until the ridiculous table saw lawsuits stop) this review deals largely with their portable jobsite table saw. This saw has a strong, best-in-class 15-amp motor with soft-start, so it is sure to last a very long time while reducing motor wear and those annoying breaker trips. A single height and bevel adjustment handwheel allows for quick setting of blade height and bevel, but of course, doesn’t offer the control of a dual wheel system found in larger cabinet saws.
