Hot News: The New GE Cafe’ Series Refrigerator

GE Cafe' Series Refrigerator with Keurig K-Cup Brewer

GE Cafe’ Series Refrigerator to Feature Keurig K-Cup Brewing System

It’s not often we report on home appliances. Still, once the work is done on your new home or remodel, there is the issue of furnishing your home. For those that are in the market for a new fridge, you have got to check out the new GE Cafe’ Series Refrigerators! The big draw on these is that they have a hot water dispenser in addition to the cold water and ice dispensers we are currently used to.

Hot water dispensers certainly take the refrigerator in an unexpected direction since its job is to cool. There are immediate and exciting possibilities for this kind of feature though. Oatmeal, hot tea, and hot chocolate are ready to go at a moment’s notice. And just as you were thinking about making some instant coffee, the GE Cafe’ Series Refrigerator includes the Keurig K-Cup Brewing System. From Keurig to Keurig 2.0 and now to the GE Cafe’ Series Refrigerator, the single cup brewing system proves that it is as popular as ever.

Not all GE Cafe’ Series Refrigerators will have the Keurig feature built in, but they will include the hot water dispenser. How much is that Keurig K-Cup Brewing System in your fridge worth? You’ll be looking at a $3300 MSRP with the system. Without it, the GE Cafe’ Series Refrigerator will cost $3100, so you’re paying about $200 for the built in Keurig.

If you’re actually wondering about the fridge design itself, the GE Cafe’ Series Refrigerator is a French door with bottom freezer style. The Keurig K-Cup Brewer fits onto an exterior slot at the beverage center. You’ll remove it to load your favorite K-Cup flavor into it and slide it back in place. Using the electronic keypad, you’ll select the size that you would like, turn the knob to start the brewing, and the system takes care of the rest. The Keurig K-Cup Brewer is dishwasher safe, leaving it easy to clean up.

There are several things that I really like about this. The obvious one is that I have a Keurig K-Cup Single Serve System attached to my GE Cafe’ Series Refrigerator. I also like that the brewing system is not completely integrated into the refrigerator. Being removable means that I’m not stuck paying $500 to have someone replace and install a $200 feature. The fact that the brewer is dishwasher safe is also a huge bonus. I don’t have a huge kitchen, but I love to cook. This system rises straight to the top of my wish list thanks to the fact that it also saves me counter space.

The GE Cafe’ Series Refrigerator with Keurig K-Cup Single Serve Brewer is expected to be available in the Fall of 2015. Until then, check out GE’s website for more information.
