The light is constructed with a sturdy yellow plastic body and a black rubber covered neck. We found that the neck can be bent, twisted, snaked or wrapped around almost anything to give us a steady work light. Per the manufacturer, the light is supposed to provide up to 3 hours of continuous light. The light source is a miniature Xenon bulb with a spare included inside the light housing. We found the light to be adequate but would like to see an LED version of this eventually - an update that would likely extend the length of time the light could remain on with a single battery.

Our testing of this tool was not quite the norm, but it still illustrated its usefulness. OK, we'll just fess up and admit that we used the light to illuminate our tackle box when we were going fishing one night. With the battery installed, the weight provided a steady base for the light and it allowed us to extend the neck up and over our tackle box so we could find the right hooks. Also the light is weather resistant and we have used it in light rain without trouble. The light is not waterproof, however, so caution needs to be exercised when you do use this near standing water.

No batteries or charger is included with the light. This light makes a great addition to the other 18-Volt DeWalt tools already in your collection and can typically be found for around 1/3 of the suggested retail price.

Conclusion

Bottom line this is a no brainier to add to your 18-Volt DeWalt collection. It is one of those things you will not use every day but when you do use it, you will definitely be happy with your purchase.
