I put these into my impact drivers by default, and I rarely have to do anything other than change out the bits on occasion when they wear out (Klein sells multi-packs of replacement bits as well).

Overall Score 9.2 (out of 10)

Klein entered a couple new products into the multi-bit power driver category recently, the 5-in-1 Multi-Bit Power Driver and the 6-in-1 Multi-Bit Power Driver. These new accessories are designed to make the job of electricians easier by reducing the number of bits and tools they need to bring to the job site.

What Klein did with its power reamer to reduce fatigue and time on the job it again duplicates with this accessory for fastening electrical devices using an impact driver. These are also an excellent pairing with the Klein Combo-Tip Drivers.

Klein Multi Bit Power Driver Features

The 5-in-1 Klein Multi Bit Power Driver comes with a 3/8″ nut driver and a 1/4″ nut driver, plus a #2 Phillips bit and a two-sided #2 square drive and 3/16″ slotted bit.

The 6-in-1 Klein Multi Bit Power Driver is a bit larger, with a 9/16″ nut driver, 5/16″ and 1/4″ nut drivers, plus a #2 Phillips bit and a two-sided #2 square drive and 3/16″ slotted bit.

On both drivers, the metal sleeve inserts as well as the double-sided bits lock in securely with a bearing lock, while the single-sided 1/4″ hex bit works with a magnetic slot.

Obviously, having five or six different bit types at your disposal means you can work a lot faster without having to swap out tools. I enjoyed being able to jump between wiring up a switch and outlet, securing metal conduit to the box, and then replacing the cover while running power into a storage shed. Being able to move between square, Phillips and nut driver made the job flow a lot more smoothly.

Klein 5-in-1 in-use

I can also appreciate Klein’s attention to detail as they ensured these bits work well with impact drivers. This is especially good when you’re doing commercial wiring and you need to self-tap about a hundred screws through steel studs in order to mount switches throughout an office building. In our testing we tapped a few dozen screw through sheet metal and didn’t encounter any problems with the bits popping out. On occasion you can pull back in such a way as to catch the magnetic bits on an edge of a screw and have them pop out, but that’s a problem with any magnetic bit-holding system and it didn’t appear to be anything other than an occasional nuisance with both the 5-in-1 and 6-in-1 Multi-Bit Driver systems.
