PTR New Product Spotlight – Week of October 21, 2019
Even though temps are starting to drop, new tools are heating up things at Pro Tool Reviews. Here are the hottest new products to come across our radar for this week’s PTR New Product Spotlight!
Hilti OnTrack Procore Compatibility
One of the big stories this week is that Hilti is collaborating with Procore to strengthen digital workflow and drive production on jobsites. This has resulted, in part, with Hilti’s OnTrack asset management system now synergizing with the Procore platform.
The Hilti OnTrack system gives contractors visibility into who has their assets with Smartphone scanning and Bluetooth tags that help track items moved between warehouses and jobsites. It also manages repairs, inspections, maintenance, training verifications, and certification validation before assigning assets.
Now, the API will open data exchange between the Hilti OnTrack system and Procore to reduce duplicate data entry into multiple spreadsheets and workflows.
For instance, customers using both platforms can request an open item from Procore’s Tasks tool. When that piece of equipment is scanned and signed with the OnTrack app, it gets checked off in Procore.

Spyder Diamond Edge Universal Cut-Off Wheel
Spyder has released a new diamond abrasive cut-off wheel that they claim can power through just about any material a Pro could likely come across…metal, stone, tile, and composites will all fall to the mighty power of the Spyder Diamond Edge Universal Cut-Off Wheel. And, while the cutting ability sounds pretty impressive, Spyder claims they can provide it at a lower cost-per-cut than your conventional bonded abrasive products.
The new cut-off wheels feature a diamond abrasive edge and a shatter-resistant steel core. This ensures safer operation, reduced dust, and extended working life.
The .045″ walls of the Diamond Edge make cleaner cuts through steel, stainless, cast iron, rebar, masonry, ceramic tile, composites and more. Spyder has designed them to work with grinders that have a 13,000 max rpm.
We’re still waiting on official word for price and availability. Keep your eyes on Sypder’s website for updates.
New Jet Air Tools
Jet will release a whole pile of new pneumatic tools, all of which can be found in the new Jet 2019 Air Tool catalog. But, to save you a trip, here are some of the highlights.
The 1″ pistol grip impact wrench has a square drive that’s now 1 lb lighter, yet 20% stronger than its in-class competitors.
The 1″ D-Handle impact wrench now generates 27% more torque than its closest competitors. It generates 2200 ft/lbs of torque, a working torque range of 380-1900 ft/lbs, and 1300 blows per minute.
The 3/8″ drive stubby impact wrench works well in tight spaces and, with its composite body, only weighs in at 2.5 lbs. Despite its light weight, it still generates 430 ft/lbs of torque, a working torque range of 90-370 ft/lbs, and 1500 BPM. It also features a two-position switch that provides a choice between running full speed/full torque or running at a slower speed with less torque.
Industrial Gearless Die Grinders are on the menu too, though rather than using beveled gears, these feature a direct drive system that links the motor directly to the 1/4″ collet. Jet has positioned the motor at the head of the tool for better efficiency, and it features Kevlar blades for longer motor life. This die grinder has a 0.5 mph motor with a 20,000 rpm free speed. It weighs 1.7 lbs and is only 6.7″ long.
Three new industrial grinders are available from the Jet air tool lineup. The new 4″ and 5″ grinders feature a 1.2 hp motor, while the 7″ features a 1.8 hp motor. All three models have been designed for longer motor life with maintenance intervals every 1000 hours. Governors ensure that as the load increases, so does the tool’s speed.
Prices: JAT-464 4″ – $399.99; JAT-465 5″ – $410.99; JAT-467 7″ – $632.99
All of the new Jet air tools come with a 2-year warranty and are backed by the Jet Red Assurance service and support program. To learn more about these new air tools, click here.
