Well I used the saw heavily over the weekend and I am simply stunned. It handles, feels, and preforms just likes a gas saw. It cuts without hesitation and does not lose power as the battery drains. The on-board power indicator is great because it lets you know you are getting low because otherwise you would never know. It lived up to it's rating of ~45 minutes of cut time and easily hit the "150 cuts" per charge as advertised. I was doing more clean up work (vs. heads down non stop cutting) and used the saw for 2-3 hours of work time before it eventually was out of juice the first time. The 30 minute recharge time is amazing and was not any kind of inconvenience as I just took that opportunity to clean up the debris and limb scraps I had been cutting. Battery was full before I could blink and it didn't even give me a chance to catch my breath. If rotating two batteries you would literally have infinite time as the literature states.
It was refreshing not to be covered in oil/exhaust and fumes the entire day as well as with the limited vibration you are simply not completely worn out from using it. Pick it up - use it - put it down - pick it up and use it again. No need to kill it and restart it between cuts. I used it to fell and process two full trees, to take out a large 20" stump/trunk and cut it into rounds that someone else left standing, and overall to clean up 2.5 full acres of wooded property and all on only 2 charges of the battery. Simply amazing results and performance!
Pros:
Powerful saw with real cutting power
~45 minutes of cut time per charge
fast 30 minute recharge of battery
no need to deal with gas/oil mixture
part of a powerful tool line that shares battery and charger so no need to purchase duplicate components when expanding
Cons:
Since it is not a screaming smelly monster, at times it is almost too easy to forget that this is a serious tool that demands respect and needs proper safety precautions.
Spare batteries are expensive (but they worth it)
In short I love this tool and look forward to expanding into it's other equally well rated brothers!
======================== Update ===========================
I recently recommended this to a friend. He purchased on my advice and after using it he had a similar outstanding experience. As with me the saw FAR exceeded his expectations and if now further recommending it to his extended family members who live in rural Colorado.
I’m 70 y/o nam vet. I have 3 sthil chainsaw but due to numerous injuries very hard to star even the msc 251. I did a lot of reading on this subject. I had a kobolt 60v but not that happy with it
This saw gives you about 950 rpm chain speed. I just cut down 20’x 36” canary palm. Palms are very hard to cut due to fibrous wood n ton of sap. This saw performed very well even in adverse conditions. Due to the make up of palm just a lot of cleaning. For all you older dudes this is your pick. Trust me I’m on fixed income. Company wanted $1000 to take tree down.
The Greenworks 80v 16 inch saw exceeded my expectations. I’ve used several 2 stroke saws over the years, some larger, some smaller and while I’m not completely ready to retire the 2 stoke saws just yet, I am however one step closer to doing that. Battery life is a bit of a concern as charging them in the field wouldn’t be practical and the cost of additional batteries are around 2/3rds of the cost of the saw with battery and charger. However, the reduced weight is very welcomed as I’m far from being the teenager that I used to be long ago.
Ergonomically, the saw feels no different than any other chainsaw of yesteryear, just much lighter. Adjusting the chain tension is quick and simple with the provided tool, but it you lose it (easy enough to do), a flat screwdriver and a 13mm box end wrench will do the task. Filling the bar/chain oil reservoir is easy even if filling from a gallon container. So far I haven’t noticed any leaking bar/chain oil, but it is expected as virtually all chainsaws leak oil at some point in their life.
The battery charges in roughly 30 minutes (for the included 2 amp hour battery) and locks into the saw firmly. The safety switch on the side of the handle is placed nicely and is comfortable to press during operation. My only gripe about the saw is that there is a delay between the time you squeeze the trigger and when the chain gets up to speed. That and you can’t feather the trigger for slower speeds. It’s either full on or full off. Nothing in between really.
Overall, I’m very happy with the purchase of this chainsaw. It will do what I need it to for quite a while I feel.
Update 1/20/2020:
Due to me believing a friend that they knew how to properly operate a chainsaw, I’ve had to replace a twisted guide bar. Well, the lady that I spoke with on the phone from Oregon helped me locate a bar/chain combo to replace the 16 inch bar that my saw came equipped with. If you’re looking for a spare or replacement bar and chain combo for this saw, the Oregon part number is #27857 which is easily located through Amazon. I hope this helps someone else out there as well.

Basically, the only thing I'd like to wish for is a great deal on a longer life battery. It really comes up to about 45 minutes of easy but steady cutting and it takes double the time to charge it. I'd be happier if they included another battery even if it cost a bit more.
Its great for a backyard saw, but isn't suitable for serious application.
