I have used these to hang two tall tubular cat wall scratchers for an extremely rambunctious 7 month old kitten. She may not weigh alot but the way she climbs and hangs and shifts around on these she's putting alot of pressure on them. Yes, one of the two screws required to install each section of the scratchers is screwed into a stud. However there is no difference in the two sides. If I didn't know which was in the stud or which one was using the anchor, I wouldn't know. Both are very secure.
The second scratcher I purchased had the platform/perch on it and the kitten was not too sure about using it. It's also higher up. She tugs and bounces on that like crazy now. It is so secure that I think my huge male cat could climb also, but he doesn't bc he's afraid of heights. Help us all 🤦♀️
I only use these now. No other type of toggles. Another bonus is you can remove them without tearing up your wall. Yes, there would be the installation hole to patch, but your drywall doesn't get torn up. (I have heard that old drywall can become brittle so if that's your wall idk how it would be).
I have such confidence in these that I am planning on adding more cat wall stuff!
Definitely do not recommend.
