Best Hilti Tools at World of Concrete 2020

If you’re ever in Las Vegas this time of year, it’s nearly impossible to miss Hilti – even if you don’t have a pass to enter the lot. They have one of the largest booths at World of Concrete every year. It’s always a highlight for us to come and visit considering how deep their concrete lineup is. With a stellar reputation on the build quality side of things, they’re some of the best tools available. So what should you look for this year? Hang on – here are the best Hilti tools from World of Concrete 2020.

Hilti Tracefast Smart Concrete Fasteners

Hilti had several new innovations to show us, including their first cordless breaker. What impressed us even more was the announcement of a smart fastener system.

Hilti’s Connect App reads the unique Digital Matrix Code on each fastener end so you know where it’s installed. You can bring up specs to see exactly how much torque to apply and report with certainty that it’s correct.

It’s just the tip of the iceberg, though. As we move forward, imagine a system where you spec everything in BIM, fastening with a tool that dials in the torque, and that tool communicating with the system through your phone to complete reports and track progress as you go. Thanks to this new smart fastener system, we’re getting closer to realizing it.

Hilti TE 500-A36 Cordless Breaker

Hilti is taking the success of its corded TE 500 and shifting it to its 36V platform. Using the incredible capacity of a 36V, 9.0Ah battery (324Wh), it’s hefty—4 pounds heavier than the corded version. However, it has half the vibration and a bit more power. Even though you have some extra weight, the vibration reduction is going to leave you with less fatigue at the end of the day.

There’s also a backpack system to go with the VC 75 vac, giving you a conveniently cord-free option as you work around the site.

Hilti 12V Brushless Drills and Drivers

We really like Hilti’s original 12V lineup and now there’s a brushless update to boost the performance and life of the tools. All three of the core tools – hammer drill, driver, and impact driver – now have brushless motors available. We love that Hilti goes with a slide-style battery on these tools. It gives them a lot more freedom in the handle design and the team takes advantage with a very natural, ergonomic feel.

Hilti is one of the first to bring advanced battery technology to a 12V line, using 21700 cells to put more energy in a smaller package. Their 12V, 4.0Ah battery is a 1P slim pack, giving you the runtime of a larger 2P pack in a more compact, lighter pack.

Hilti SF 6H-A22 Hammer Drill Update

The SF 6H-A22 is getting some trickle-down technology from Hilti’s ATC (active torque control) that we see on several rotary hammers. The automatic clutch system stops the motor if it senses a bind-up, preventing the drill from taking your wrist and elbow on a wild ride.

Check it out for yourself here.
