Bosch Bulldog Xtreme Rotary Hammer Bits

Bosch Ships New Bulldog Xtreme Rotary Hammer Bits

Bosch has traditionally made very good accessories for drilling and cutting. This past week they began touting their newest Bulldog Xtreme and Bulldog rotary hammer bits from Bosch. The  Bulldog Xtreme bits are designed for both precision and durability – even when used in reinforced concrete or harsh aggregate. To handle lightweight and normal weight concrete, the Bosch Bulldog Xtreme rotary hammer bits are optimized for pure speed. Bulldog Xtreme bits are utilize a solid-head carbide design that should last longer when encountering things such as rebar. At the same time, they are fast. With less carbide wear, you get more bang for your buck.

Bosch Bulldog Xtreme Rotary Hammer Bits Features

Bosch claims a unique and proprietary diffusion-bonding technology which uses a high-heat, high-pressure solid state welding process. This bonds the steel and carbide in a way that, the company says, is much stronger than traditional methods. The design ensures that the solid-carbide head doesn’t break off when you strike aggregate or encounter rebar (and presumably switch to the Bosch Rebar Cutting bits).

The centric conical tip on the Bosch Bulldog Xtreme rotary hammer bits guides the bit and results in rounder holes, which helps when setting anchors or fasteners. Bosch also incorporates a wear mark to alerts you when the bit has worn to a level where it’s no longer precise. The overall flute of the bit is designed to enhance dust removal and also reduce operating temperature and bit stress during use. The new Bulldog Xtreme bit sizes range from 3/16″ to 1-1/8″ diameter.

Now, when you want pure speed, Bosch developed the Bulldog SDS-plus rotary hammer bits. They use vacuum brazing and an induction-heat hardening process to ensure fast drilling in light- or normal-weight concrete and block. The four-flute design of this bit reduces friction points between it and the concrete and thus helps the bit run cooler and with less stress. It also practically pulls dust out while it drills. The Bulldog SDS-Plus bits range in size from 5/32″ to 1″ diameter and you can get them in lengths between 4″ and 39″.

“New Bosch Bulldog bits do more than simply drill holes in all kinds of concrete. They’re the only bits optimized for the newest generation of Bosch Bulldog rotary hammers, so they optimize the user’s entire drilling system. They’re longer lasting, stronger and faster than the previous generation of bits. Bulldog bits make a strong contribution to a concrete drilling system that’s as precise as it is tough.”
