Honda Power Equipment Coming to a Lowe’s Store Near You

Lowe’s and Honda Power Equipment have announced that Lowe’s will be a new retail partner for Honda’s line of high-quality outdoor power equipment.

Editor’s Note: Check out our Lowes vs Home Depot article for our take on these two behemoth home improvement stores.

As of now, Honda products are available at Lowes.com, with more to roll into the company’s brick and mortar stores nationwide within the coming weeks. Lowe’s will offer a range of Honda OPE, including residential and commercial walk-behind mowers, generators, snowblowers, tillers, pumps, and string trimmers.

“We are committed to offering a wide selection of brands DIY and Pro customers know and trust, and Honda strengthens our ability to deliver on customer expectations in outdoor power equipment. By providing customers with more high-quality and durable products, we are making it even easier for our customers to complete their next outdoor project.”

Bill Boltz, Lowe’s executive vice president of merchandising

Honda’s partnership with Lowe’s will bring some of the OPE industry’s most durable and powerful products to the stores, making them more easily available for DIYers and Pros alike.

“The partnership between Lowe’s and Honda will help bring the industry’s best lawn and garden products to even more households nationwide. At Honda, we’re looking forward to a relationship with Lowe’s and serving their customers with exceptional products through an exceptional shopping experience.”

Will Walton, vice president of Honda Power Equipment

Thoughts on the New Partnership

Honda mowers and generators have the kind of reputation that other brands dream of and their other OPE products are solid as well. Bringing Honda into stores makes a ton of sense for Lowe’s, especially on the consumer side.

Honda’s HRR mower was selling some 300,000 units every year before being replaced by the Honda HRN series in late 2019. That’s a ton of sales that Lowe’s can expect to draw some sales from.

They’re not alone, though, with Home Depot also having some Honda models available in their stores and more online.

Here’s what’s interesting. In the commercial market, Husqvarna has been a partner with Lowe’s on the Pro side of the business. Honda doesn’t make ride-on mowers at this point, but we’ll have to wait and see what happens in the walk-behind sector.

The expansion for both Lowe’s and Honda is encouraging to see for the OPE market in general. What do you think? Let us know in the comments below!
