Johnson Level Adds QR Codes to Packaging and Advertising

You know when times are changing when contractors are starting to carry smart phones and not those Tonka truck looking flip phones. To keep up with the technology at hand, Johnson Level & Tool is adding QR codes (Quick Response codes for those that are still a little tech challenged) to most of their product packaging, advertising and promotions. These codes can help consumers that are armed with a smart phone to be able to almost instantly learn more about their products and how to choose the right tool for their job.

QR codes are two-dimensional, digital-patterned squares which contain information such as a website, telephone number, contact information or an e-mail address. To use the codes, you need a smart phone or tablet, with a camera and a QR code reader app, which can be installed for free from the Android Market or Apple App Store. When the unique QR code is scanned from a Johnson Level package or from a magazine ad, the app will direct the user to the Johnson Level website or to a specific web page for additional features, technical specs and a quick-start video demonstration. Johnson Level will be using the codes primarily on their levels with special features and laser levels, which are more technical.

“We are very excited about this new way to quickly put the power or our website into someone’s hand when they need it most,” said John Dwyer, Vice President, Sales & Marketing. “ is an amazing tool for helping people find and learn about the level or laser level best suited for their project,” he continued.

Johnson Level has added over 60 new products in the past three years to create the industry’s broadest and deepest lines of contractor tools in key categories related to leveling, layout, measurement and marking.

Editor’s Note: We recommend and like the RedLaser app if you use an iPhone
