Milwaukee Bottle Opener Review 48-22-2000

Milwaukee bottle opener

It’s not every day you get the jump on a new tool, so when the Milwaukee Bottle Opener with Wire Strippers (48-22-2000) found its way into my possession I couldn’t wait to get started. On first glance the tool seems to be a traditional-looking bottle opener, except that it has the signature Milwaukee Tool Red and Black handle design with white logo. I found the Milwaukee Tool cordless bottle opener to be easy to use and quite ergonomic. The integrated wire stripper was a real plus, though the conflict between enjoying an alcoholic beverage while running 12/2 through conduit was a bit dubious…

Field Testing the Milwaukee Bottle Opener

In any case, I wanted to test out every aspect of this new the bottle opener from Milwaukee Tool…but I had a dilemma: I was trapped in a hotel room. Not wanting to be beaten by a tool I did what any real pro would…

I improvised.

I mean, come on…who actually uses a land line anyway? And who uses a land line in a hotel room of all places. No, that cable had to be sacrificed for the greater good.

As a bottle opener, well, the Milwaukee 48-22-2000 is perfection. It has excellent leverage, and the extra wide handle affords you a secure grip while you pry up on the cap.

Overall, this is one of the best bottle openers I’ve yet used. It also fits nicely into a tool bag or the top shelf of your truck box. I alos like the new “fastener logo” Milwaukee came up with for the top of the handle:

Criticisms and Room for Improvement

I was wary of this bottle opener for use on recreational trips. After all, it’s much larger than most pocket models I’m used to and it’s a tad on the bulky side even for around-the-house uses. I also lamented that Milwaukee failed to put a scraper head on the top or something else that would make better use of the large amount of available surface area. In any case, these are just suggestions and the tool is still very adept at its intended use. If this is just the beginning of what we’ll see out of Milwaukee in the back half of 2013 and early 2014 it should be a good year.

The new Milwaukee Bottle Opener and Wire Strippers will be available in September and pricing is around $9.99.

PS. No actual telephone cables were injured or otherwise rendered inoperable during the writing of this review…
