Porter-Cable 3-amp Oscillating Multi-Tool Kit PCE605K

We were impressed by Porter-Cable’s 12V and 18V Multi-tool’s which, most notably, use a tool-less blade change system. This week, the company launched a 3-amp Corded Oscillating Multi-Tool Kit (model PCE605K), which, with the right blade, should be able to cut through just about anything you put it against. Corded oscillating multi-tools are important in the market as they delivers both the performance needed for tougher applications, and also the endless run-time demanded by larger jobs.

We were impressed when we reviewed Porter-Cable’s PC250MTK multi-tool which, most notably, used an innovative tool-less blade change system (our favorite of the ones we’ve used). This week, the company launched an upgraded Porter-Cable 3-amp Oscillating Multi-Tool Kit (model PCE605K), which, with the right blade, should be able to cut through just about anything you put it against. Corded oscillating multi-tools are important in the market as they delivers both the performance needed for tougher applications, and also the endless run-time demanded by larger jobs.

Porter-Cable 3-amp Oscillating Multi-tool Features

So the new Porter-Cable 3-amp Oscillating Multi-Tool PCE605K has the 3.0 amp motor, delivering up to 22,000 oscillations per minute (OPM). You can, of course, vary the speed so as to use the tool in a variety of sanding, grinding and cutting applications as well as customize the speed to match the work material. The new tool also features a rugged-looking and handy depth/cutting guide to give you more stability when making long cuts, for example a more delicate undercut application. It’s also great for setting the maximum depth for trickier plunge cuts.

I love the depth-stop on this tool!

For versatility, the PCE605K multi-tool includes a redesigned three-position over mold to provide comfort when operating the tool whether a user prefers to hold the tool in the front, middle or back. The PCE605K comes with a 10-foot cord – and this is the minimal length we like to see on corded tools like this.

Like its predecessor, the PC250MTK, the PCE605K multi-tool features a Tool-Free System blade which, while it ties you to Porter-Cable blades, allows you to change accessories so quickly you’ll wonder why everyone doesn’t use something similar (Fein and some others have  similar feature). The PCE605K multi-tool will be available through Lowe’s and independent distributors in September 2012 and will retail for about $129. The kit will come with 31 accessories including the depth/cutting guide and include a three-year limited warranty, one-year service contract and 90-day money-back guarantee.
