Porter-Cable recently announced an extension of their Get Linked system of tools with the launch of the Porter-Cable 20V Max Impact Wrench. It’s the company’s first cordless impact wrench and is engineered with residential contractors and mechanics in mind.
The impact wrench features a 1/2-inch hog ring anvil that helps the motor deliver 330 ft-lbs of max torque. A variable speed trigger delivers 0-1,700 rotations per minute (RPM) and 0-2,500 Impacts Per Minute (IPM). Powered by the 4.0Ah 20V Max lithium ion battery pack, it’s 9.9 inches long and weighs 6 pounds. Other notable features include an over-molded grip and an LED work light to help illuminate dark work areas.
The PCC740LA is kitted with one 4.0Ah battery and priced at $159 MSRP. The PCC740B is available bare for $119 MSRP. Available in November 2016, the Porter-Cable 20V Max Impact Wrench will come with a three-year limited, one-year service, and 90-day money-back guarantee.

Our Take
The Porter-Cable 20V Max Impact Wrench seems kind of overdue for brand that has had cordless tools out for quite a while. Positioning themselves as an entry-level professional brand, they pack plenty of power in this model with 330 foot-pounds of torque. That should be enough to get the attention of most impact wrench users in their target market of residential contractors and mechanics.
Combine the power with a $159 price tag for a kit that includes a 4.0 amp hour battery and I’d say Porter-Cable is hitting the entry level Pro market perfectly. If you’re already on the Porter-Cable battery platform the bare tool is a $119 addition to your set.
My porter cable 1/2 inch impact gets hot and shuts down after pulling 4 tires off car. Dont know if its normal or not but not to satisfied with that part
When is the impact supposed to be available? No lowes has it in Utah
