Milwaukee M12 Fuel Circular Saw 2530

Big Things Come in 5-3/8″ Packages: Milwaukee Expands 12V Line with the Milwaukee M12 Fuel Circular Saw

The big news from Milwaukee is the small size of the latest Milwaukee M12 Fuel Circular Saw. This one has only a 5-3/8″ inch blade. That translates into a 1-5/8 inch cutting capacity. You may have already guessed that this is exactly what you need to cut through 2x material. You’d also be able to guess that this is going to result in a lower weight as well.

“In the past, 12V users would need to carry 18V or corded circular saws to complete cuts in the most frequently used jobsite materials. Able to complete 170 cuts in 2×4, the M12 FUEL 5-3/8” Circular Saw provides performance and run time that is comparable to a much larger tool, at a fraction of the size and weight.”

Performance

All right, so we know that it has the capacity to cut 2x material, how much does that really help us out? Well, with the majority of jobsite circular saw cuts being 2x material or less, Milwaukee is betting that it’ll help us out a lot. There’s even some use in 4x material. To get a single cut, you’re looking at a full-size miter saw or two cuts with a 7-1/4″ circular saw. So, you’re not really losing out on the 2x and 4x crosscuts.

The limitation is going to be on beveled cuts, but that’s about it. With those in mind, you may want to take a look at the Milwaukee M18 Fuel Circular Saw.  For most applications, however, this will be a fantastic, lightweight solution with the advantages of using a brushless motor on the M12 platform. Other 5-3/8″ circular saws rely on 18V battery platforms, and it looks like Milwaukee is the first to get an effective solution on the 12V platform. The Milwaukee M12 Fuel Circular Saw is available as a bare tool (2530-20) or as a kit with an M12 4.0 XC battery, multi-voltage charger, blade, blade wrench, and kit bag (2530-21XC).
