Overall Score 8.8 (out of 10)

Who’s ready for another work light review? I got my hands on the Milwaukee 325-Lumen Focusing Flashlight and I hoped someone might be interested. Anyway, this is part of Milwaukee’s personal lighting lineup and it’s the AAA answer to their rechargeable RedLithium USB Flashlight.

Pros

  • Dustproof and waterproof (IP67)
  • 12-foot drop tested
  • High output for its class
  • Good runtime
  • Competitive price for its features/specs

Cons

  • No strobe mode

Recommendation

The Milwaukee 325-Lumen Focusing Flashlight is a good everyday carry flashlight for any tradesman. The lack of a strobe may be an issue if you like to have it as a high-viz or defensive option.

Design

The Milwaukee 325-Lumen Focusing Flashlight looks like a shorter version of its rechargeable brother. Here’s a breakdown of the similarities:

  • Aluminum textured body construction – this one is drop tested to 12 feet
  • Rear push-button controls – partial click gives you temporary on and lets you cycle through modes
  • Head-down clip – same placement and still removable, but not the deep carry style
  • Sliding focus – flood for up close, spot for distance

It’s definitely shorter at 5.39 inches and saves you more than an inch of length. The size is perfect to fit in your toolbox, bag, pocket, or even center console in the truck.

Like its big brother, this the Milwaukee 2107 is also IP67 rating, making it dustproof and waterproof.

Light Me Up

Output and Runtime

There are two modes to cycle between and no strobe this time around. Low gives you 25 lumens and high gives you 325. That’s pretty close to the top when you consider outdoor competitors in the same size/power source/price class.

The lack of a strobe function isn’t something that everyone will care about, but it’s something I like to have to be more visible around road traffic and for defense.

The 377-foot throw is a bit shorter than others in the class. I typically don’t turn to this size of light when I need a long throw, though. You’ll just need to decide if you expect to light up something longer than a football field away.

Runtime on high is a solid 5 hours and you’ll get around 18 in low. I don’t have a problem with those at all, but part of me does wish there was a 100-lumen setting in between the two.

Light Quality

With the focus in flood position, the beam keeps a pretty even, soft light and circular shape without any noticeable artifacts to distract you.

As you move to the center position, the beam keeps its shape well, but the evenness fades and there are some artifacts that show up. That’s not unusual in any focusing flashlight, especially at the $35 mark.

Milwaukee’s TrueView color temperature gives you a neutral light for accurate color definition. There’s a very obvious shift into the yellow part of the spectrum around the edges, though.

Milwaukee 325-Lumen Focusing FlashlightPricing

The Milwaukee 325-Lumen Focusing Flashlight comes in just under $35 with a comparable spec sheet and feature set to what you’ll see from brands like Coast and a bit more output that LEDLenser is offering in that range.

  • LEDLenser T²: 240 lumens, $44
  • LEDLenser TT: 280 lumens, $50
  • Coast G50: 355 lumens, $35
  • Coast PX1: 315 lumens, $40

The Bottom Line

The Milwaukee 325-Lumen Focusing Flashlight is a well-built, compact, jobsite-ready flashlight with excellent output for its size and the versatility of a sliding focus beam. The price is right for an alkaline battery model, making it a good option as your everyday just-in-case flashlight.
