Ridgid micro CA-300 Inspection Camera Preview

We’re big fans of the inspection camera, having reviewed several on PTR. They allow home inspectors, plumbers, appraisers, HVAC technicians and electricians document and troubleshoot problems with an ease that was impossible before the advent of LED and micro-camera technology. Ridgid’s newest inspection camera, the micro CA-300 is the company’s next evolution of the microEXPLORER family. You can record both still images and videos of problems in hard-to reach areas and then share these findings with the RIDGIDConnect solution. On top of that, an embedded microphone means that you can also document your video with live commentary, so your notes are more complete.

We’re big fans of inspection cameras, having reviewed several on PTR and even done an inspection camera comparison. They allow home inspectors, plumbers, appraisers, HVAC technicians and electricians document and troubleshoot problems with an ease that was impossible before the advent of LED and micro camera technology. The Ridgid micro CA-300 inspection camera is the company’s next evolution of the microEXPLORER family. You can record both still images and videos of problems in hard-to reach areas and then share these findings with the new RIDGIDConnect solution. On top of that, an embedded microphone means that you can also document your video with live commentary, so your notes are more complete. The CA-300 has a comfortable pistol-grip design, large 3.5″ LCD screen, and a rugged and waterproof anodized aluminum camera head with four bright LEDs. These LEDs are “steppable” so you can vary the light intensity depending upon the application. In either case, this camera makes it easier to detect and diagnose the unreachable.

Ridgid micro CA-300 Inspection Camera Features

Like most inspection cameras, the Ridgid micro CA-300 inspection camera lets you get the perfect view with enhanced features like image rotation and digital zoom. We just wish they made the screens and cameras with perfectly square imaging sensors so that 90 degree rotations were possible. This would keep the lens from getting turned around as they often do. Videos are captured at 320×240 (QVGA) resolution while stills are recorded at 640×480 (VGA). All images and video are stored to the included 4GB SD card, which is removable and can be inserted into your laptop or desktop PC to transfer files. You can also use the included USB cable to slave the CA-300 to your computer for image transfer as well.
