Having looked at General Tools PalmScope and included them in our inspection cameras comparison, we were interested when General Tools launched its new line of Multi-Pro Screwdrivers at the National Hardware Show in Las Vegas. Featuring some innovative features, these are likely to find their way into your tool belt to replace other multi-bit screwdrivers. How […]
As a furniture maker, I am always on the lookout for new tools, techniques, and jigs that simplify the construction of strong and long lasting joinery. With a couple of face frames to build and a table project in the works, this seemed like a great time to try out the new Porter-Cable PC560 Quik […]
Apex Tool Groups leading hand tool brand, Crescent Tools, has launched its new Crescent Connect Modular Clamp System. After the Crescent CMTS4 Switchblade Multi-Purpose Cutter, it looks like Apex is on a roll. The major draw for this system is the ability to connect multiple clamps together and rotate them in order to hold several […]
By now everyone has seen the infomercials for the Rockwell JawHorse and either has one or wonders if they need one. But in case you haven’t seen it, let me describe the JawHorse. It’s basically a vise mounted to a stair-stepper machine. You might also consider it half of an exercise bike with clamps for […]
This won’t be a long review, mostly because the tool under scrutiny is so easy to use. Rockler introduced its Universal Clamp-It Kit several months ago. This is a clamp set designed to give you a “third arm” when assembling frames, drawers, or any two pieces of stock wood at 90 degrees. Anyone who’s done this type of work will recognize that clamping a perfect 90° angle can be a pain without the right jigs and clamps. Rockler’s new Clamp-It and Fence looks to be a good “one person” solution that simplifies the process of tightly and securely joining stock.
We attended the 2012 International Builders Show in Orlando, Florida and were making our rounds when our eye was caught by the ZipDoor. This is a dust barrier product that makes it super-easy to cover a doorway and seal off a room from dust ingress and/or egress. The ZipDoor kit comes with everything you need, including a roll of tape and plastic lining and is designed for use in residential or commercial applications. Featuring ZipWall’s new double-sided tape and heavy duty, glued-in zippers, the ZipDoor installs – literally – in under one minute to provide a complete dust barrier. The ZipDoor is made of 4 mil plastic sheeting and comes in both standard (doors up to 3’x7′) and commercial (doors up to 4’x8′) sizes. In addition to being larger, the commercial version of the ZipDoor is also fire retardant.
The Pro 15 is Dow’s answer to dispensing its Great Stuff Pro expanding foam consistently and easily. It’s a one-handed tool that allows the PRO cans to fasten securely to the top and dispense a bead of expanding foam anywhere from 1/8″ to 3″ in thickness. If you do a lot of construction work, or you are in the specialty trades like plumbing, electrical or weatherization, you’re going to want a tool like this to simplify what can be a very tedious and time-intensive task. Once you use a dispensing gun, you won’t want to go back to manual cans. Add to that the fact that Dow’s Great Stuff Gun can help you to use your cans longer and reduce waste and it just might save you money over the long haul.
National Nail Corp. revealed its latest tool this week, Marksman Pro-X1. We reviewed the original CAMO Marksman Pro and really loved how quick and easy it was to set up and use on decking. One thing we wanted was for it to allow for thinner spacing between boards. Looks like National Nail was listening. This new X1 tool delivers multiple gap options for installing wood decks in conjunction with the company’s CAMO Hidden Deck Fastening System and will be shown off at the 2012 DeckExpo in Baltimore, MD. The Marksman Pro-X1 is a contractor grade tool that lets you choose between a narrow gap, preferred when installing wood deckboards, or a standard gap which is required for wood and wood-alternative boards. The Marksman Pro-X1 will work with boards widths measuring between 5-1/4″ and 5-3/4″.
Gluing wood pieces together for cabinetry and other projects is going to be a lot smoother and simpler with Rockler Sure-Foot F-Style Clamps. The new Sure-Foot F-Style Clamp advance the features of a typical clamp by adding features such as a base that can support both the clamp while you position and clamp, leaving your […]
