Festool Germany Media Event Day 2: Upcoming Tools for 2017

Most of this first full day at the Festool facilities was full of upcoming products for 2017 that I’m not able to share with you just yet. However, I can say that from painting and sanding to cordless tools, there are some promising developments on the way.

We had the opportunity to use the Festool Planex – a paint prep sanding tool that offers innovation over competitive units. Innovation was a big theme of the week and Festool bills themselves as a solutions company. Their product line may be small compared to the likes of the big names out there, but each tool is designed to solve a specific issue within that class of tool.

In the case of the Planex, that meant creating a long reach sander with a vacuum assist and incredibly flexible head to make wall and ceiling paint prep on drywall easier on the user. There are a host of other user-friendly features as well that set it apart. We’ll go into more detail shortly on that in case you haven’t seen it for yourself.

There were also some updates to the Service All Inclusive plan. It hits 8 core areas to help Festool reach its goal of ensuring none of their customers walk away disappointed.

  • 36 month full coverage warranty (none of that “limited” language in there)
  • 10 year parts guarantee after the tool goes out of production (they’ll give you a new tool if they fail to meet that standard)
  • 3 years free shipping to and from for repair and warranty work
  • 24/7 online service hub assistance
  • Dedicated service hotline
  • Guaranteed 48 hour turnaround once the tool arrives at the service facility (though the majority are actually done in 24 hours)
  • Online instructional videos
  • 30-day no questions asked money back guarantee

After returning to the hotel to freshen up, it was off to Stuttgart. As much as we came for the tools, we also came for the beer and Octoberfest was in full swing. With a very talented live band playing 80’s music, the ladies dressed in Bavarian Dirndl, the guys in Lederhosen, beer flowing freely, and much dancing on the tables, we got to see what a German beer festival is all about.

It’s a German beer festival and the beer was flowing in 1 liter steins!

While I don’t feel like I need to share all the details, let’s just say that attending Octoberfest in Germany is a must-do event on any beer lover’s bucket list.
