Brunt Brings Welted Construction to Popular Work Boots

Brunt Goodyear-Welted Boots Provide Added Durability for Heavy-Duty Jobs

Over the years, we’ve gotten quite a few Brunt boots on our feet and we’re fans of the quality they bring to the table, as well as their comparatively lower price point. Now, the brand is introducing a line of Goodyear-welted boots, which so far is comprised of their popular Marin and Mulder boot models. I’m going over the new Brunt welted boots to see how they differ from their non-welted counterparts, and how this design helps with durability on tough jobsites.

  • Triple-padded ankle collar
  • Brunt Cush’n insoles

  • ASTM F2413-18 electrical hazard-compliant

We’ve featured the Marin boots on our site before, and they stood out thanks to their style, fit, and comfort level. Their lightweight design doesn’t sacrifice durability, makes it easy to move around, and avoids a long break-in period common with other work boots.

Part of their comfort level can be attributed to their polyurethane midsole, which provides extra cushioning, support, and durability compared to standard EVA midsoles. To stabilize and protect your ankle, as well as provide cushioning, there’s also a triple-padded ankle collar. These boots are waterproof, oil- and slip-resistant, and you can choose either a composite safety toe or a soft toe.

Additionally, the Goodyear welt construction on the Marin boots makes them resoleable, meaning you can extend their overall lifespan.

Brunt Mulder Goodyear Welted Boots

Brunt Mulder Welted Boots - Both Colorways
  • Lightweight nylon shank
  • Polyurethane midsole
  • Triple-padded ankle collar
  • Brunt Cush’n insoles
  • Adjustable width
  • 6-inch height
  • Safety toe or soft toe
  • Waterproof design
  • Oil- and slip-resistant
  • 572°F heat-resistant outsole
  • ASTM F2413-18 electrical hazard-compliant

The Mulder boots share many of the same safety, performance, and comfort features as the aforementioned Marin boots. Where they differ is mostly in design, opting for a more traditional work boot blueprint than a moc-toe design that we see in the Marin. Instead of a rubber outsole, these boots also opt for a slip-resistant TPU outsole that’s lighter in weight and more durable than rubber.

The outside of the Mulder boot is comprised of barnyard chemical-resistant leather sourced from American steer. These boots also feature extra-tractioned heel and toe strike zones, a 90° defined heel, and ladder lugs. Electrical hazard protection provides an extra source of protection for accidental contact with live electrical circuits.

Like the Marin boots, the Mulder boots are resoleable thanks to their Goodyear welt construction.

Goodyear Welting: What are the Benefits?

The process of Goodyear welting adds an extra layer in the midsole that provides additional stability and durability. Brunt describes it as connecting the upper part of the shoe to the midsole by stapling the upper to the insole, stitching the upper to the insole, and then stitching the upper and midsole together.

While it may sound like a simple process, the end result creates a very strong bond between the two main parts of the shoe. This design gives these boots a durable, waterproof build that comes in handy on tough, heavy-duty jobs. Plus, the welting process makes them resoleable, allowing you to replace the outsole and extend the overall life of the boots.
