Black & Decker CHV1510 15.6V Cordless Dustbuster Preview Tool Reviews by Tool

Black & Decker CHV1510 15.6V Cordless Dustbuster Preview

Black & Decker launched a newly redesigned line of one of its most well-known products, the DustBuster. It was over 30 years ago when Black & Decker debuted the original cordless hand vac that has now become ubiquitous to homeowners across America.  The redesigned Dustbuster line promises to be just as popular with five models in sizes, features and colors to fit every lifestyle. The one we’re looking at today is the 15.6V CHV1510 Cordless Hand Vac (CHV).

The 14.4 V (CHV1410) and 15.6 V (CHV1510) models boast an innovative shape that allow users to operate the tool in ways that traditionally-shaped hand vacs haven’t performed.  The rotating, slim nozzle design targets dirt in tight spaces, and, with over fifty percent more reach than previous Black & Decker models. The extension crevice tool lengthens, gaining accessibility for cleaning tight spots. Additionally, the flip-up brush offers multiple cleaning functions without the hassle of storing loose accessory pieces.

All models feature a translucent dirt bowl that makes it easy to know when to empty out the debris.  Additionally, the bowls and filters are washable for thorough cleaning of the unit when the job is done.  The various models within the line provide a range of sizes and features to meet numerous household-cleaning needs. If you’re going to buy just one, though, the 15.6V cordless model is the all-around winner.

The new CHV1510 DustBuster Hand Vac is Energy Star Certified so users can be assured they’re purchasing a product that meets government standards. Additionally, Black & Decker’s redesigned DustBuster line is backed by a two-year warranty, and is available at major retail stores nationwide.  Prices and features for the 9.6V (CWV9610), 9.6V (CHV9610), 12V (CHV1210), 14.4V (CHV1410) and 15.6V (CHV1510) will vary per model, ranging from $29.99 to $44.99.

The biggest disappointment for these new Hand Vacs is that they operate on Ni-Cd battery technology. Why, in an age where lithium-ion seems to have been perfected, Black & Decker would want to ding its vacuums with Ni-Cd is unknowable. In any case, you can expect battery issues to occur shortly after the warranty period a(2 years) as that’s about the outside expected life for Ni-Cad technology in our experience. Perhaps in their next revision we’ll see the much-needed Lithium-ion and this tool, which is already very impressive, will get all the more so.
