Olight Prowess Dual Direction Flashlight Performance

Olight Prowess Flashlight
  • Max Light Output: 5000 lumens
  • Max Throw: 245 meters
  • Max Runtime: 20 days (low)

Runtime and Output

When talking about runtime and output, Olight’s estimates can be a little tricky at first. Due to this light’s high power output, it will automatically step down the lumens in order to manage heat and protect the battery.

For instance, on Turbo, the light will produce 5,000 lumens for about 3 minutes and then automatically back down to 1,200 lumens and run for an additional 140 minutes. This leads to some slightly complicated runtime estimates, but with that knowledge in mind, it gets a little easier to understand.

Here’s a quick guide from Olight:

Its forward facing lens produces cool white light ranging between 5,500K and 6,500K while the 360° reverse light produces warm white light ranging between 2,800K and 3,200K.

Your actual results may vary depending on the ambient temperature and humidity, so it’s tough to nail down exact estimates with this kind of light. However, these are tested based on the ANSI/NEMA FL1-2019 standards, not some random test.

So why not just give normal runtime estimates? Well, that’s the intelligence of Olight’s heat management system. As the temperature rises, the light steps down the output before causing damage to the battery. With that said, this light generates significant heat around the bezel, so be mindful of your hands so you don’t hurt yourself.
