Bosch Click & Go L-Boxx-3D Storage Boxes Preview

Click & Go is the new marketing name for Bosch’s latest iteration and family of L-Boxx integrated storage solutions. Christian Heine spoke about Bosch’s process of observing the workplace and noting areas of feedback from real world users who could use more productivity. As an example, they observed and interviewed what they referred to as “mobile pros” and found that only around 31% of their day is productive (billable). The rest of the day is time spent buying supplies, driving, searching for tools, etc.

The name for the latest iteration and family of L-Boxx integrated storage solutions is Bosch Click & Go.

Bosch Click & Go L-Boxx-3D Features

The 3D is the new iteration of L-Boxx products which now includes integrated drawers (L-Boxx 3D) and also an L-Dolly and L-Cart option. To-date there was the L-Boxx-1, -2, -3, and -4. Continuing with the evaluation of the problem, 50% or more of mobile pros are driving over an hour per day. This drove Bosch’s focus to the vehicle. For mobile professionals, the vehicle is a place where you house tools and accessories and also organize your supplies. Remember, productivity? According to Bosch, that’s the place to improve it.

Bosch Click and Go tool storage

Bosch Click & Go is the L-Boxx solution they are presenting in conjunction with the well-known Illinois-based Knapheide and also Sortimo. Bosch Sortimo Systems is a new company that combines storage and tool solutions in trucks, vans and other vehicles. Knapheide makes the truck boxes we all love to use, and Sortimo is the specialist in vehicle storage systems. In fact, in the mobile tool storage market, Sortimo claims to be one of the lightest solutions. Sortimo’s integrate vehicle shelves and solutions use a floating floor that is completely modular and which can be completely removed from a work vehicle if needed. One thing that was also fun to hear is that they fully crash test the systems at 30mph, fully loaded. I think Robert Robillard, our friend from AConcordCarpenter, offered to be a crash test dummy in the next line of pickup trucks, provided he could get a couple of “samples” in exchange. We’re not holding our breath.

With the Sortimo and Knapheide systems, everything is meant to remain on the shelves or slides until you remove them. Sortimo’s “T Boxes” which have transparent lids, were integrated into the new i-Boxx series of L-Boxx products and are also available in the 3D line. The L-Boxx products are made from ABS plastic except for the transparent lid option which is polycarbonate. This system seems to be a great combination for storing, transporting, organizing & mobilizing your tools and accessories.

Bosch Click and Go tool box

Bosch Click & Go Quick Facts:

  • Can house about 100 different tools
  • Comes in 4 sizes and have One click stacking
  • Organize 90,000 types of fasteners
  • 2.5 million sold in Europe and Australia to-date

This looks to be an excellent system and we’re looking forward to checking it out as soon as we can get our hands on some samples. It’s always been out hope that Bosch would begin selling all of its tools in L-Boxx storage systems, but for now that’s an option given to only some tools in their extensive line. The good news is that the L-Boxx system can be configured easily for any tool, simply by using their “pick and pluck” style foam inserts.

MSRP and Models:

  • L-Boxx 1 – $49
  • L-Boxx 2 – $59
  • L-Boxx 3 – $69
  • L-Boxx 4 – $79
  • L-Dolly – $79.99
  • L-Cart – TBD

The new system launches in Fall of this year (2012) and should be an interesting addition to Bosch’s already extensive line of L-Boxx products.
