PSG Checkmate Xplorer Harness Takes Cues From Rock Climbing World

Pure Safety Group has traditionally manufactured fall protection equipment for the UK. But, with the Checkmate Xplorer harness, they’ve introduced their industrial-strength fall protection to the U.S. market. PSG says the new harness uses design elements from the adventure park and leisure climbing world. They designed it to keep the user far more comfortable than a conventional harness during short periods of suspension and frequent loadings.

10-Second Summary

  • Attachment points: Dorsal, side, frontal connection points
  • Hardware: Alloy O-rings, D-ring and buckles
  • Webbing: Polyester webbing – water repellent, UV resistant
  • Padding: Padded mesh design for comfort and breathability
  • Maximum User Weight: ANSI – 130-310lbs (59-141kg); OSHA – 100-420lb (45-190kg)

Safety and Comfort

The Checkmate Xplorer meets or exceeds OSHA and ANSI standards for fall protection equipment, all while keeping the harness safe and easy to don and attach.

Visual Alert Stitching

PSG also designed the Checkmate Xplorer harness with visual alert stitching, an intuitive way for you or your supervisor to see if you’ve donned the harness correctly. With the underside and covered stitch patterns in bright red, you’ll know straight away if you’re wearing the harness correctly.

Better D-Ring Design

PSG also paid careful attention to the D-Rings on the Checkmate Xplorer harness.  It features a limited-slip dorsal D-ring, which has a precise amount of vertical adjustment to keep the ring in place after multiple loadings. A large front ring allows for multiple attachments, and it includes a quick-connect aluminum buckle for fast and safe final connections.

The hardware on the PSG Checkmate Xplorer harness has been designed for reduced wear on the webbing. It allows for easy connections and provides pivot points for a greater range of motion. It includes an installation location for personal SRLs that eliminates the need to adjust the webbing beneath the D-ring. The curved webbing of the harness follows the natural curve of the body. A unique sub-pelvic assembly offers support and increased comfort during suspension.
