Senco’s new Fusion tools combine the best of pneumatic and cordless technology. The Fusion cordless tools are available in Senco’s 15 gauge angled and 18 gauge straight versions. What makes them impressive is that they eliminate the disadvantages associated with traditional gas and battery powered nailers. Fuel cell replacement costs, trigger response time, charge capability and excessive tool weight are virtually eliminated with these new models.

Since the new tools don’t use fuel cells, it’s estimated that the new Fusion tools could save up to $300 a year. The patented reflex shot design drives nails immediately and without any delay. The energy is stored as compressed nitrogen gas. When the trigger is pulled, the energy is released and the fastener is discharged. The motor then turns the lifter which resets the piston. Both tools use an 18 volt lithium ion battery with quick charge capability. The quick charge reaches 85% capacity in just 15 minutes. When fully charged, the battery will drive approximately 500-600 nails.

At approximately 6 pounds, the Fusion tools can be comfortably operated with one hand and is nearly 2.5 pounds lighter than traditional cordless models. Features also include a sequential or contact actuation trigger. For accurate fastener placement both are equipped with a tool-free adjustable depth-of-drive and nose mounted light-emitting diode (LED). The EZ-Clear removable magazine makes fastener removal a breeze.

The Senco Fusion FN65DA cordless angled finish nailer drives 1-1/4″ to 2-1/2″ DA series 15 gauge Senco finish nails. The FN65DA is excellent for finish and trim, baseboard, cabinets, caskets, chair rail, decorative trim, door casing, window casing, paneling and much more. The Senco Fusion FN55AX 18 gauge cordless brad nailer drives 5/8″ to 2-1/8″ Senco AX and AY series brad nails. The FN55AX seems ideal for decorative trim, window beading, trim panels, rattan, scribe molding, cabinets and picture frame assembly.

No matter the job on hand the new Fusion cordless finish nailers will tackle it with ease. By combining the convenience of cordless tools with the performance pneumatic tools the new fusion tools come across as being pretty impressive. The FN65DA is available now and the FN55AX is scheduled to be released October 2010.
