High Accuracy and Anywhere Monitoring Seal the Deal for the Typhur Sync Wireless Meat Thermometer

When you want perfect results in your cooking, a meat thermometer is a must-have tool to have in your kitchen. The Typhur Sync wireless meat thermometer set is a premium option that looks good on paper. We’ve been using it to see if they can back up those claims.

Typhur Sync Wireless Meat Thermometer Basics

Typhur Sync Wireless Meat Thermometer Set

Wireless thermometers rely on an ambient and an internal temperature sensor to keep you apprised of how your cook is progressing. Typhur takes it to another level by including five internal sensors to give you a more accurate picture.

The wireless connection is based on Bluetooth 5.4 which offers up to 400 feet of connectivity to the charging base. That’s in wide open spaces. Inside your home or from the grill on the back porch to your kitchen island, it’s about 65 feet. Either way, it’s a longer distance than many competing models.

When you connect the base to your wi-fi, you can monitor your cook from anywhere you have a cell signal using the Typhur app. This unlimited range sets the Typhur Sync wireless meat thermometer apart from other models we’ve used. Plus, it’s packed with features such as cooking presets, adjusting your target temperature, remaining time estimates, and a temperature graph to visualize your progress.

Even the build is different. Typhur turns to zirconia ceramic for the handle stakes its claim as the first to use this aircraft-grade material in a thermometer application. It’s more impact-resistant and durable than other materials.

More importantly, the construction has a higher heat tolerance, giving these wireless thermometers the ability to operate with direct heat up to 707°F or indirect heat up to 572°F for up to 20 minutes. That’s much higher than the others we’ve used.

Using Typhur Sync Wireless Meat Thermometer

London Broil

We’ve been using these thermometers on a variety of meat, but it’s the London broil that I’m going to share with you. I like this as a test, because it’s a two-stage cook that I can do on my Traeger Ironwood 885, Big Green Egg, or in the oven.

In stage one, I cook at 180°F until the internal temperature of the beef reaches 120°F. I pull the meat and let it rest while the grill or oven comes up to 500°F (or higher on the BGE). I pop it back in to get a good crust and pull for the final rest when the internal temperature is 125°.

Experimenting on the grill and in the oven on different occasions, I learned several things.

First, I love the connectivity options. When using the oven and I’m close by the entire time, I didn’t rely on the app at all. I set the cook indicators directly on the charging base and set it up where I could easily monitor it while I prepped the rest of the meal. In addition to the ambient and internal temps, it also displays a remaining time estimate and gives an audio indication when it’s done.

Switching over to the grill, I also switched over to the app. Not having to worry about the distance you are from the charging station is great, whether you’re on the other side of the house or need to make a quick run to the grocery store.

With both monitoring methods, I had no trouble at all with maintaining connectivity through the entire cook. Considering how many times I have to reconnect with other thermometers, it was refreshing.

One thing I really appreciate is that Typhur’s temperature algorithm anticipates the temperature rise that comes while your meat is resting. For my London broil, the alert came at 122°F. The result was a perfect rare and many compliments from the family members I was feeding.

A Few Other Things

  • The T-shape of the probe makes insertion and removal easier
  • The temperature accuracy is ±0.5°F
  • A full charge on the probe can run up to 50 hours
  • The probes are IP67 rated and dishwasher safe

The Bottom Line

The Typhur Sync redefines what you should expect from your wireless meat thermometer. It’s more accurate, consistent, and durable than other models we’ve used. Best of all, you can use it in a wider range of cooking temperatures and the results are outstanding. While you’ll have to dig a little deeper in your budget than less expensive options, it’s absolutely worth it.
