Multi-Purpose Heavy Lifter: Flexispot E7 Plus Max Standing Desk

Flexispot E7 Plus Max Standing Desk

We’ve been using Flexispot standing desks in our office for years. Their blend of quality and value has made for an excellent experience. I just assembled one of their latest designs—the Flexispot E7 Plus Max. While it doesn’t appear to stray from the norm at first glance, the differences under the hood expand its possibilities.

Deal Alert: For the holiday, Flexispot is running its best sales on home and office furniture. It’s the best time of year to get deep discounts on some excellent upgrades!

Building Your Flexispot E7 Plus Max

There’s no one-size-fits-all approach when it comes to outfitting your office, so buying a standing desk from Flexispot includes plenty of options. My purpose for this model was to complete my college-age son’s room for study, so I went with the 55 x 24-inch natural rubberwood. It’s a good footprint that doesn’t overwhelm the room while allowing enough space for his oversize monitor.

One Motor for Each Leg

However, I’m playing a longer game with this one. See, the “Max” in the E7 Plus Max name refers to a higher weight capacity than the previous model. With one motor in each leg and a super-stable base, this model can handle up to 660 pounds!

My son is at trade school earning his A&P license (aircraft mechanic). At the same time, he’s also flight training to open up the possibility of a commercial pilot’s license. The E7 Plus Max has all the weight capacity he needs to hold a high-end flight simulator set up and training manuals, or to act as a workbench to support parts and tools. And because of the desk’s design, if he needs more workspace, he can either order a larger top or build his own to connect to the frame and controls.

Likewise, you can build your E7 Plus Max to meet your unique needs (full options list below), from wrenching on an engine to saving the universe in your favorite video game. With a design built to last a lifetime, a 15-year warranty to back it up, and the ability to swap tops as needed, you’ll never need another desk.

Using the Flexispot E7 Plus Max Standing Desk

Flexispot E7 Plus Max Standing Desk

The full range of heights you can set starts at 25.8 inches on the low end and can rise to 51.6 inches. That’s plenty to cover a wide range of user heights. I’m 6 feet, 2 inches tall, and can find comfortable sitting and standing fits.

Matching the E7 Plus 4-leg design, it’s incredibly stable at its highest, even when it’s bearing a heavy load. If the room you’re putting it in isn’t quite perfect, levelers under each leg ensure you can get four solid contact points with the floor.

When you assemble the desk, you have the option of putting the controls on either the left or right side. I don’t find that one is significantly easier than the other, so I typically go with whichever is further from the line of traffic, just to avoid people clipping it as they walk by.

Controls

The 7-button touchscreen controller is essentially the same as we saw on the E7 Plus:

  • Manual Adjustments: Press the up or down button
  • Programmable Settings: Set up to four different preprogrammed heights
  • Height Lock: Press and hold the “M” button to activate or deactivate the lock and prevent accidental adjustments
  • USB Charging: Connect a USB-C charging cable to the right side of the controller and keep your devices fueled up.

The programming process is simple. Manually adjust to the height you want, press the “M” button, and then press the button you want to lock that height into (1, 2, sit, or stand). When you press any of the buttons you’ve programmed, the desk will automatically adjust to that height.

There are a couple of ways to use the programming buttons. One is to have two different users set their sitting and standing positions if you share a desk. Another is to have multiple heights for a single user. For example, you may have a standard sit and stand height, plus another for when you’re using shop stool instead of your normal chair.

Additional Highlights

  • Anti-collision Sensor: Stops the motors in the event of an obstacle during motion
  • Magnetic Cable Tray: Easily corral and hide cables for a clean look
  • Available Casters: For desks that need mobility—perfect for workshop applications
  • Accessory-compatible: Work with a wide range of clamping accessories

Should You Buy It?

Thanks to the four-motor, super-stable design and high weight capacity, the Flexispot E7 Plus Max is the most capable, most versatile standing desk we’ve used from them so far. It’s an outstanding choice as an office desk, workbench, or even as a dining room table with the right top.

However, if your needs are primarily on the lower-weight side of things—like a basic home office set up—this model may be more than you need. You can certainly use it, and it will do a great job for you. But you can save a little money and some weight by going with something like the E7 or E7 Pro.

We paired this desk with Flexispot’s C7 Morpher ergonomic chair. If you’re having issues finding a comfortable fit on your current office chair, this model has more adjustability than any other chair we’ve used!
