Key Features

Size and power are the two main talking points surrounding the Bosch 12V Screwdriver. At only 1.3 lbs, and with a head length of only 5″, this tool gives you a clutchable (Is that a word? It is now!) solution for driving fasteners without the overpowering nature of an impact tool. That can be handy for tasks like furniture assembly or installation of cabinet hardware and hinges. Its lightweight body also works well overhead or when you’re driving into tight corners inaccessible by larger tools.

Bosch 12V Screwdriver

The Bosch GSR12V-300HXN features a brushless motor that delivers up to 300 in-lbs of torque and a max speed of 1,750 RPM. The two-speed transmission lets you select between high torque (0-460 rpm) and high speed (0-1,750 rpm).

As we mentioned, the Bosch 12V Screwdriver has a precision clutch with 20+1 settings. That should let you dial in just the right amount of torque so you can avoid damaging fasteners or hardware.

The Bosch 12V Screwdriver also features a quick-change 1/4″ hex drive chuck that lets you swap out bits quickly and easily. You also get the expected LED work light that shines from just below the chuck and above the trigger.

Where Does This Fit Into the 12V Lineup?

What advantage does the Bosch 12V Screwdriver present over other similar tools in the 12V lineup? Between the 12V drill/driver and 12V FlexiClick drill/driver, Bosch has a few 12V tools that accomplish similar objectives to the 12V Screwdriver.

As it turns out, for straightforward fastening applications that call for the most power from the smallest tool, the GSR12V-300HXN is your best bet.

Our Thoughts

We’ve always liked Bosch 12V tools. They were the first to really nail the truly compact form factor we expect from a sub-18V platform. They did so well, in fact, that the size hasn’t really changed much since we first reviewed the Bosch PS21-2A Pocket Driver in 2010. The Bosch GSR12V-300HXN 12V Screwdriver carries on the tradition of compact size—but now you get more torque and runtime thanks to the brushless motor. It seems great for connecting ductwork, hardware, and similar applications where you want more torque control than you get from a more powerful impact driver.

Pricing

This Bosch 12V driver comes with a four-tip bit holder, four Bosch Impact Tough bits to put in that bit holder, and a belt clip. Unfortunately, there isn’t yet a kit option for this tool. However, you can pick up the bare tool for just $119.
