Craftsman Adds OPE to 20V Battery Platform
Craftsman just expanded their V20 line, including a new low-profile lawn mower, handheld blower, string trimmer, and hedge trimmer. They even added in a 10-inch mini chainsaw and what looks like a really handy cordless shear for good measure. These tools work really well for those with smaller yards who don’t need the power and runtime offered by some of the higher-voltage tools. Let’s take a closer look at each of their new additions.
V20 Push Mower
Perhaps most notably, the new Brushless Cordless Push Mower has a really funky low-profile design. It reminds me of Porsche’s iconic 917 race car.
In any case, the raked-back design positions the two 5.0Ah batteries upside-down and nearly flush with the top. It lets the mower run for up to 50 minutes before recharging. You should have better access to mowing under hard-to-reach areas…like a deck…or an outdoor couch. Craftsman says it takes up 78% less space—even saving room when storing the mower vertically. You can pick up this mower as a kit for just $299.

V20 Cordless Blower
A new V20 Cordless Blower delivers up to 200 CFM for moving material and 90 MPH blowing speed to loosen wet leaves. That’s respectable—but what we like is that Craftsman also added an integrated nozzle scraper for removing really stubborn debris.
The kit comes packed with a 2.0Ah battery, so you’re ready to start blowing right out of the box. The real kicker? The price—$79 with a battery and charger.

V20 Weedwacker Trimmer/Edger
If you prefer to tackle several different tasks without having to buy multiple tools, the $80 Craftsman V20 Weedwacker string trimmer/edger kit should work well for you.
The tool extends the line every time you pull the trigger, so you don’t have to bump the head. It has a small 10-inch cutting swatch and supports .065″ trim line. You’re not going to use this as a brushcutter, but it should be great for maintaining a smaller yard.
One other feature we like is that Craftsman integrated a VERSATRACK hook, making this Weedwacker compatible with Craftsman’s VERSATRACK system, so you can hang it up when you’re done for the day.

V20 Hedge Trimmer
With a full wrap-around handle designed with your comfort in mind, the Craftsman V20 hedge trimmer’s 20” dual action blades cut through branches up to 3/4 of an inch thick. That should make this a great tool for trimming up most bushes or hedges that cross your path.
This $100 kit comes with a Craftsman 1.5Ah 20V battery and charger.

Rounding Out the Craftsman V20 OPE Lineup…
Two final products caught our eye in this V20 rollout. The $139 Craftsman 10 inch chainsaw kit and the $80 V20 Cordless Shear Shrubber Kit.
The former includes a 2Ah battery and looks like a great tool for smaller tree limbing up to 8-inches in diameter. The shrubber kit will make some topiary fanatic very happy. It includes both an 8-inch shrubber blade and a 4-inch grass shear that you can interchange at will.
At the time of this writing, the jury is still out on what you can expect to pay for either of these tools.
