Greenworks 60V Bike Handle String Trimmer Performance
- Max No-Load Speed: 6500 RPM
- Cutting Swath: 16 in.
- Line Diameter: 0.095 in.
- Feed Style: Bump
- Gas Equivalent: 31cc
Greenworks’ bike handle string trimmer controls are set up similarly to what you’d find on a backpack leaf blower. The pistol grip handle features a variable speed trigger, a power button, and a speed control switch that allows it to reach a top speed of 6,500 RPM. Having this range of speeds lets you quickly prioritize between maximum power or longer runtime based on your conditions. This timmer also includes a reverse mode that spins the motor in the opposite direction to assist in detangling any loose debris that wraps around the trimmer head.
When it comes to cutting power, this 60V trimmer is no slouch. Its 31cc gas equivalent brushless motor is very capable when tackling thick overgrowth and dense brush. Additionally, the trimmer head accepts 0.095-inch diameter line which has plenty of mass for maintaining speed in tough conditions.
One more big area of performance we want to address is the runtime. Our testing yielded a final time of 16 minutes and 20 seconds on high with a 4.0Ah battery. That’s pretty good for a 16-inch string trimmer of this caliber, especially when you consider it’s pushing 6,500 RPMs!
Greenworks 60V Bike Handle String Trimmer Design Notes
- Model: Greenworks 60TB16
- Power Source: Greenworks 60V battery
- Shaft Length: 71 in.
- Handle Width: 24 in.
- Shaft Material: Magnesium
- Weight: 13.3 lbs. (bare), 17.5 lbs. (with 4.0Ah battery)
The Greenworks 60TB16 string trimmer’s profile is pretty standard, aside from the obvious bike handle controls. It measures 71 inches from tip to tail and the bike handle grips stand 24 inches apart. It weighs 17.5 pounds with a 4.0Ah battery which is slightly higher than the average battery-powered string trimmer. However, the weight is offset by the adjustable padded shoulder strap.
Line changes are pretty simple with Greenworks’ Load N’ Go head. All you need to do is feed your favorite 0.095-inch line through the trimmer head and then twist the lower section clockwise to wind up the line. This is much faster and more simple than the traditional style because there’s no disassembly required.
The biggest benefit of using a bike handle style string trimmer is the increased control while maneuvering from side to side, not to mention the shoulder strap for reduced fatigue. For these reasons, they’re often the go-to choice for larger clearing projects.
- Compatible with all Greenworks 60V batteries
- IPX4 weather-resistant

The Bottom Line
The Greenworks 60V Bike Handle String Trimmer is set up and ready for taking on those larger clearing projects. Its comfortable ergonomics and adjustable padded shoulder strap go a long way toward reducing your overall fatigue after a long day. Not to mention, its gas-like power and 4-speed motor allow you to clear a wider variety of overgrowth compared to other residential battery-powered string trimmers.
