As we’ve covered the best seasonal workwear trends, this fall brought us a surprise from a brand that may not be one you think of when it comes to the trades—King’s Camo. I’ll show you what their XKG Pivot Pant has to offer, including why I think it’s a compelling choice for your go-to fall work pants.
Making the Case for King’s Camo XKG Pivot Pant
As an outdoorsman, I’m constantly on the lookout for crossover gear that’s effective for both work and play. Enter King’s Camo. Designed for rugged backcountry hunting out west, their lineup is durable, comfortable, and promotes movement—everything I look for in a great pair of work pants.
It’s made from a durable blend of 94% polyester and 6% spandex woven into a 4-way stretch with articulated knees and gusseted crotch. The weight, feel, and movement are very similar to Truewerk’s T2 pants, but with a couple of key differences that change the game.
First of all, it has a Grip Strip waistband. Two silicone strips wrap around the back inside of the waist, keeping your tucked-in base layer from pulling out and your pants from sagging. Whether it’s preventing the cold from creeping in or simply not fighting your clothes all day, it’s a welcome upgrade.
Second is what appears to be two long zippered pockets along the side of both legs. They’re not actually pockets, though. They unzip to reveal a mesh lining to promote airflow. When the day starts chilly, keep them closed for optimal warmth. As the day and your body warm up, open them to increase the breathability and stay comfortable.
Additional Highlights
- DWR Treatment: Light rain and moisture beads up and rolls off instead of soaking into the material
- Polygiene Odor Control: Avoids bacterial odor buildup and lasts for the life of the pants
- Snap Close Cargo Pockets: Streamlined design offers legit storage with less risk of snagging
- Flap Over Rear Pockets: Reduces the risk of losing anything out of your back pockets
- Reinforced Knife Clip: Adds durability to the front pockets where you clip your knife
Should You Buy It?
I wrestle with temperature management during the fall and spring transition seasons. It’s easy enough to add or remove layers on top, but it’s a pain when it comes to my work pants. King’s Camo XKG Pivot Pant has the perfect solution with its side mesh vents allowing a cooling air flow when I need it and closing up when more warmth is in order. That, plus a durable, moveable build, odor control, and Grip Strip waistband come together in a winning combination.
It’s a workwear upgrade that nearly any tradesman can benefit from. However, there’s one caveat. You might want to pass on the Camo pattern if you’re working on busy jobsites. The Dark Khaki or Charcoal would be a better call there.
The XKG Pivot Pant is $159.99 direct from King’s Camo and is available in waist sizes 30 – 38 short, 30 – 44 regular, and 32 – 42 tall.
