Klein HVAC Clamp Meter CL445

Klein HVAC Clamp Meter

Klein Dials in Current-Measuring Performance for HVAC Professionals

Klein has a deep line of test and measurement devices designed for workers in the HVAC, electrical, and plumbing trades. The latest in these specialized tools is the Klein HVAC Clamp Meter CL445, which updates the lineup with an HVAC-specific model. So what does it have to offer HVAC Pros, and where does it fit into the lineup? Let’s take a look.

Klein HVAC Clamp Meter CL445: Overview

  • Model: Klein CL445
  • Automatically ranging true root mean square (TRMS) meter
  • Simultaneously measures current and voltage
  • Digital clamp measures 600A AC current and inrush current
  • Test leads measure 750V AC/600V DC voltage, DC micro amp, resistance, continuity, frequency, duty cycle, capacitance, and diode tests
  • K-Type thermocouple port measures temps from -148°F to 1832°F
  • Power source: 3x AAA batteries
  • 6000-count LCD display

This device is an automatically-ranging true root mean square (TRMS) clamp meter. The digital clamp measures both 600A AC current and inrush current (for testing furnace motors).

The included right-angle test leads measure 750V AC/600V DC voltage, DC microamps (for testing flame sensors), resistance, continuity, frequency, duty cycle, capacitance, and diode tests.

This clamp meter’s K-type thermocouple port reads temperatures from -148°F to 1832°F. This is a smaller temperature range than Klein’s CL440 model, however that model also carries a larger price tag than the CL445.

Additionally, a backlit LCD display with both V and A functions lets you view both voltage and current measurements at the same time.
