We saw a lot of very cool things at the 2012 International Builders Show (IBS) and one of those cool products was the 5N1 Gutter and Fascia System. The patented 5N1 Gutter System replaces at least five separate gutter related items that would otherwise need to be purchased and installed when completing a new construction building project. This includes the fascia cover, drip edge, gutter body, soffit receptacle, leaf guard, and decorative cove molding cover. Rather than making all of these individual items separately – each of which requires separate consideration for installation, the 5N1 Gutter provides a high end solution that replacing them all with a single product. The result is a very heavy duty, extruded aluminum gutter, custom powder coated to precisely match the customer’s needs.
5N1 Total Gutter and Fascia System Features
There are five essential components of the 5N1 Total Gutter and Fascia System:
- Drip Edge: Extruded aluminum, hinged to properly fit 0/12 to 14/12 roof pitches, surpassing competitive drip edges which are made at only 90 degrees thus not fitting the pitch of the roof properly and causing it to wrinkle and not lay fl at.
- Soffit Channel
On the 5N1, this is built directly into the gutter body, which makes it completely invisible and incredibly functional. - Leaf Guard
Third party leaf guards are dubious at best, however the one built into the 5N1 allows leaves to roll right off the gutter top. It also provides resistance to pine needles. Installation is simple and involves just snapping it into the back of gutter channel and screwing it to the top of the fascia. This makes it simple to clean and also renders it virtually invisible when viewed from below. - Gutter Body
The gutter body of the 5N1 system supports around 30 percent more water than conventional gutters. It is made of heavy extruded aluminum and, as a result, is very durable. All components fit together with no fasteners by either snapping or sliding them together. - Trim
The unique snap locking feature gives the 5N1 a fastener-free look. There are no screws, rivets, or exposed fasteners of any kind. The result is a clean appearance of crown molding and, like crown molding, there is a unique selection of profiles including custom shapes.
The 5N1 Gable Fascia System is like the 5N1 Gutter System in that it is a heavy aluminum fascia system that incorporates drip edge, soffit channel, and snap locking trim. Like the gutter system, the Gable Fascia system is fastener free and uses snap locking that can run up to 24 feet with no seams. If you compare this to conventional coil stock, that’s over twice the length.
