The Hilti NBL 6-22 Jobsite Blower Clears the Way for Construction Pros
Are we seeing Hilti jump into the OPE market? Well, not exactly. Earlier this year at World of Concrete, Hilti launched a couple of products that trace their roots to the landscaping world; however, this batch of tools is 100% jobsite-focused. The Hilti NBL 6-22 jobsite blower is all about surface prep and cleanup. I’m taking a closer look at the performance expectations and design elements to see how it can benefit you in real-world conditions.
Hilti NBL 6-22 Jobsite Blower Performance
- Max Air Volume: 460 CFM
- Max Air Speed: 119 MPH
- Noise Level: 78 dBA (high), 81 dBA
- Runtime: 20 min. 58 sec. (high), 3 min. 54 sec. (turbo)
Blowing Force
At its heart, the Hilti NBL 6-22 features a brushless motor that pumps out up to 460 CFM with a top air speed of 119 MPH. It’s certainly not the most powerful battery-powered blower on the market, but this is plenty of power for removing debris from your jobsite or cleaning off equipment after a long work day.
Runtime
For my runtime test, I paired this blower with a freshly charged B 22-170 8.0Ah Nuron battery and set the cruise control on high. On the first run, it ran for 20 minutes and 58 seconds on high. Kicking it up to Turbo mode, the battery lasted 3 minutes and 54 seconds.
Clearly, there is a significant drop-off in runtime between the two modes, but stick to using the Turbo mode in shorter bursts to extend your overall battery life.
Noise Level
Controlling the noise level on a battery-powered blower is a big deal for me, and Hilti did a pretty good job with this blower. Hilti specs this blower at 69 dBA, based on ANSI testing methods at 50 feet.
When measured from my ear, we clocked the NBL 6-22 at 78 dBA on high and 81 dBA on turbo mode. This is on the quieter side compared to the broad range of battery-powered blowers, and in line with what we expect at this performance level.
Hilti NBL 6-22 Jobsite Blower Design Notes
- Model: Hilti NBL 6-22
- Power Source: Hilti Nuron battery
- Weight: 6.6 lbs (bare tool), 9.6 lbs (with B 22-170 battery)
- Length: 31-1/2 in. (min), 37-3/4 in. (max)
Size and Weight
The Hilti NBL 6-22 weighs 6.6 pounds as a bare tool and 9.6 pounds with the recommended B 22-170 battery. With the telescoping blower tube collapsed, the blower measures 31 1/2 inches and 37 3/4 inches when it’s fully extended.
Grip and Trigger
Looking down at the grip, Hilti drapes the grip with a smooth rubber overmold, a variable speed trigger, a power button, a turbo button, and a cruise control dial for extended use. Because this blower is intended for Professional jobsites, these design elements are somewhat oversized, making them easier to manipulate while wearing gloves.
Additionally, the handle angle gives this blower a natural forward lean, so it’s easy to maneuver.
Telescoping Blower Tube
We don’t typically see a telescoping blower tube on handheld blowers; this is usually reserved for Pro-grade backpack models. However, for a Professional jobsite setting where storage space might be limited or you’re operating it close to equipment, this more compact design will definitely come in handy.
Another cool feature on this blower tube is the metal scraping ring. This comes in handy when you’re dealing with stubborn debris.
Additional Features
- Compatible with all Hilti Nuron batteries
- Adjustable shoulder strap
Hilti NBL 6-22 Jobsite Blower Price
The Hilti NBL 6-22 retails for $219 as a bare tool and is backed by an impressive 20-year warranty. Hilti operates on an à la carte basis for batteries and chargers, so you can build the kit to suit your needs.
The Bottom Line
When it comes to maintaining a clean and efficient jobsite, having the right tools can make all the difference. While it may not lead the pack in raw power, the Hilti Nuron NBL 6-22 delivers more than enough performance for typical jobsite cleanup tasks. Its lightweight design, work glove-friendly controls, and telescoping blower tube make it a practical choice for professionals. While there is some room for improvement, overall I think this is a solid blower that aligns well with Hilti’s reputation for jobsite-ready tools.
So, whether you’re blowing off a foundation before the walls start going up or clearing away metal shavings after cutting rebar bundles, Hilti gives you the cleanup tool you need without forcing you to buy into another battery system.
