What is the Infinity System?

Wolverine Infinity System Work Boots

The Wolverine Infinity System is composed of three different layers—an Infinity Frame, EnergyBound foam pad, and a DuraShocks outsole.

  • Infinity Frame: Cradles the foot, providing you with added stability and comfort
  • EnergyBound Foam Pad: Delivers more cushioning compared to leading traditional midsoles
  • DuraShocks Outsole: Absorbs impact in the heel area on rough or hard terrain
Infinity System

We’ve seen the EnergyBound pad and DuraShocks outsoles on previous Wolverine boots, but the additional Infinity Frame is the star of the show here. The main goal of this system is to reduce fatigue, protect joints from impact, and help you get through the day more comfortably than before.

Wolverine Infinity System Work Boots: First Impressions

Wolverine Infinity System Work Boots

Right out of the box, it’s clear that Wolverine is stepping up their game in a big way. The three-layer Infinity System catches your eye immediately due to its rugged hiker-style design and attractive color contrast. While the main portion of the upper is full-grain leather, this boot features a rubber toe cap as well as a rubber heel plate that adds an extra layer of protection and durability.

Metal hardware

Wolverine made the smart decision to use metal lace hooks and eyelets instead of cheaper plastic alternatives. It may seem like a small detail, but it goes to show that they’re thinking long-term quality over short-term sales.

Comfort and Fit

From past experience, I know that ordering boots online can be a little nerve-racking, especially if this is your first experience with Wolverine boots. I typically wear a size 11 regular work boot, and for me, these boots run about a half-size small, even with regular socks.

This was further confirmed by our resident Pro, Tom Gaige. He typically wears a size 10.5 work boot, and these Wolverine Infinity System boots fit him perfectly.

As for the overall comfort level, I think Wolverine is breaking new ground. The three-part Infinity System delivers plenty of cushioning in the heel thanks to the EnergyBound midsole. This is paramount for folks who work on hard, flat surfaces like concrete. On top of that, you can really feel the added stability from the Infinity Frame, which inspires a lot of confidence on uneven terrain.

The polyurethane sole is bonded to the leather upper using cement construction, making it extremely flexible right out of the box. Wolverine also integrated a nylon stability shank that keeps your heel secure on uneven terrain.

Outsole

As I mentioned earlier, the boots have a rubber toe and heel cap, but there is also an extra layer of material around the heel for added durability and ankle protection.

Speaking of safety, these boots are available with a lightweight, low-profile CarbonMax composite safety toe. This design delivers increased impact protection, resistance to temperature swings, and shaves a few ounces off the total weight compared to steel alternatives. It also meets ASTM F2413-24 safety standards and is I/C, EH, and SR rated.

The Bottom Line

The Wolverine Infinity System Work Boots represent a big step forward for the brand. The three-layer Infinity System offers improved comfort and stability on hard surfaces, and the rubber tread is aggressive enough to handle off-road action without being too clunky on concrete.

The one thing to keep in mind when buying these boots is the sizing. They do run about a half-size small, and if you’re working in colder environments and need thick socks, your feet are definitely going to feel it. Even being a little snug, I have to admit these are my favorite pair of Wolverine boots I’ve ever worn, and they offer superior comfort over previous models. If you’re looking for a great all-day boot, the Wolverine Infinity System work boots should certainly be on your list.
