He’s a Polk County native who got his start anchoring an elementary school news show and never looked back. Headhunted by PTR straight off an award-winning high school production team, he’s been making the rest of the crew look good ever since.

Most people don’t have a clear sense of their direction until well into adulthood. Austin Holloway has known what he wanted to do since elementary school. That’s when he first stepped in front of a camera to anchor his school’s news show. Something clicked, and he followed that instinct through middle and high school television production programs in Polk County, Florida, progressively taking on more complex work: writing, directing, producing. By the time he graduated, he had already directed and produced award-winning short films, news programs, music videos, and commercials. He built a portfolio that would soon turn into a career.

Pro Tool Reviews recognized what they were looking at and specifically sought Austin out shortly after he graduated from high school. They brought him on board in 2019 with the clear mission of taking the company’s YouTube channel to the next level. He’s been doing exactly that ever since. As the only full-time video producer on the team, Austin is solely responsible for curating all long-form and short-form video content across PTR’s YouTube channel and social media platforms, including editing, production, graphics, channel moderation, and the increasingly complex visual storytelling that the channel’s growing audience expects.

What makes Austin’s role at PTR genuinely unusual is the combination of skills he brings to it. Most video producers in the tool media space are either great behind the camera or knowledgeable about tools — Austin is both. Since joining in 2019, he has been a hands-on participant in a substantial amount of PTR’s real-world power tool and accessory testing at the shop. With many dozens of tools tested firsthand, he understands what’s being tested and how to frame it. Understanding why a test matters, and how to translate those results into video content that’s both visually compelling and genuinely informative, is a skill he brings to the table with every new video or social post.

Austin is the engine behind PTR’s YouTube channel, producing the long-form head-to-head comparisons, product reviews, and buying guide videos that have made PTR’s video content some of the most trusted in the tool industry. From the camera setup to the final cut, Austin owns the process from start to finish.

Beyond the Edit Bay

If the PTR team’s fanatical love for baseball were a sport, Austin would be in first place. He’s a diehard Tampa Bay Rays fan who has the Facebook handle to prove it. In this region, loyalties may be divided between the Rays, the Bucs, and the Lightning, but Austin has staked his flag firmly in St. Pete… though he does hope the stadium moves to Ybor soon to make it easier to get to and from games!

Outside of baseball and the edit bay, Austin loves disc golf, movies, video games, and spending time with his wife (though not necessarily in that order).
