Hilti ProKit Modular Tool Storage Boxes and Cart

Hilti ProKit Tool Storage Boxes

Earlier this year, we highlighted the Best Tool Boxes on the market from brands you know and trust. Unfortunately, Hilti hadn’t released their ProKit Modular Tool Storage system yet. Although they weren’t in time for the latest update, Hilti is coming hot out of the gate, and they mean business. I’m going to highlight the key features and benefits of this system, and give you a breakdown of each member of the ProKit lineup so you can decide if it’s the right option for you!

Hilti ProKit Tool Storage Boxes: Key Features

Durable Modular Design

These boxes are designed to withstand the rigors of Professional jobsites. They’re constructed with a durable polymer housing, and all four models meet IP65 ingress ratings against dust and water. Additionally, the outer walls are relatively smooth, so they’re less likely to get snagged or hung up in your truck or trailer.

Overall, these boxes feel high-quality. The lids are sturdy with very little flex, and the inner walls have plenty of support to keep them from bowing out under heavy load. Simply put, these aren’t your daddy’s old plastic toolbox!

Easy Nesting

Of all the modular systems we’ve tested, Hilti’s ProKit nesting system has one of the most efficient designs, second only to the Toughbuilt StackTech. There’s no sliding, latches, or plastic tabs to contend with. Simply align the bottom edge of the box with the lid of the previous box and press down until you hear the mechanism click.

To release the box, all you need to do is press down on the black plastic lever on the front and lift the box away. It’s that simple, and you can do it with one hand!

Auto-Latch Lid

One of the most crucial components of any toolbox is the latch. The ProKit boxes feature a large single-point latch that you can easily open while wearing work gloves. Moreover, Hilti equipped these boxes with auto-latch lids that secure automatically when closed. This helps avoid accidental spills if you forget to lock it down in between uses.

Smart Tracking

Like we’ve seen with other brands, such as Makita’s MakTrak system, these boxes are all compatible with Hilti’s ON!Track smart tags. This allows you to track and manage your equipment through Bluetooth.

Hilti’s medium ProKit box is nearly identical to the organizer, but with a few key differences. Rather than the removable compartments, you get two plastic dividers so you can easily segment the space and keep tools from shifting.

The Botton Line

At the start of this article, I mentioned that Hilti was a little late to the game with their modular storage system, but I think it was the smart move on their part. The Hilti ProKit tool storage system provides ample space for large and small tools, as well as the bits and accessories that go along with them. The design is smart, sleek, and well-refined for a first-gen system.

As of right now, the lineup only includes five pieces, but knowing Hilti, more are surely on the way. However, the build quality is top-tier and is clearly aimed at Pros who are fed up with flimsy toolboxes. If you’re on the hunt for a new modular tool storage system, the Hilti ProKit lineup is a great place to start.
