Kreg Joins the Battery-Powered Tool Game with New Cordless Roster
You may know Kreg for its extensive roster of woodworking and joinery accessories. The brand has been around for several years, offering everything from clamps to measuring tools, and even larger solutions like bench systems. Now, Kreg is venturing into the power tool market with the announcement of its first 20V tool lineup. I’m examining each model in the new Kreg 20V power tool collection to see what they can bring to your shop or jobsite.
Kreg 20V Power Tools – New for 2025
For Kreg’s first stab at power tools, it all starts with the battery. These tools are powered by the new Kreg Blue Ion 20V batteries. They’re outfitted with optimized electronics that communicate with the tools’ brushless motors for enhanced runtimes and high performance.
Like many power tool batteries, they’re also equipped with a variety of smart features, including optimized charging speed, temperature management, and drop resistance.
Price:
- 2.0Ah Blue Ion Battery: $89.99
- 4.0Ah Blue Ion Battery: $99.99
Kreg 20V Rebel Ionic Drive Pocket-Hole Joiner
Starting out with the most unique of the bunch, Kreg has implemented what they know best—woodworking joinery tools—into a 20V tool. The Kreg 20V Rebel Ionic Drive Pocket-Hole Joiner features a brushless motor that enables single-motion drilling to create pocket holes easily without hooking up a separate drill or driver.
It’s equipped with its own driver bit that enables drilling pocket holes into materials from 1/2-inch to 1 1/2 inches thick. The kit includes a 4.0Ah Blue Ion battery, a charger, and several accessories, including a rail guide and vacuum attachment. If you regularly perform pocket joints on your projects, this tool can save you the hassle of utilizing multiple tools and clamps to form those holes.
- Model: Kreg KPTBRB100A
- Top speed: 2800 RPM
- Drilling depth: 1/2-inch to 1 1/2-inch
- Micro bit-depth adjustment
- Brushless motor
- GripMaxx anti-slip bottom plate

Kreg 20V Ionic Drive 1/2-inch Compact Drill
For Kreg’s first cordless drill, the design team went with a compact blueprint. It’s only 5.9 inches long to give you plenty of access in tight spaces like underneath counters. With top speeds in the 2000 RPM range and max torque levels up to 650 in-lbs, it’s not the most powerful model we’ve seen, but it’ll serve you well for medium-duty driving tasks.
It’s interesting that Kreg didn’t include a hammer drill in this launch, but they seem to be focusing on tools that specifically benefit woodworkers and carpenters. If you’re looking for a tool to drill into concrete or masonry, you’ll have to stick with another brand for the time being.
- Model: Kreg KPTBDR050A
- Max speed: 2000 RPM
- Brushless motor
- Two-speed gearbox
- Variable speed trigger
- Max torque: 650 in-lbs

- LED work light
Price: $229.98 (kit)
Kreg 20V Ionic Drive Impact Driver
The Kreg 20V Ionic Drive impact driver is just 4.4 inches long, which is impressively compact. It features three speed settings, reaching modest top marks of 2900 RPM and torque levels of up to 2200 in-lbs. There’s also an Assist mode that prevents overdriving screws in soft materials like softwood and plywood. Like most impact drivers, it features a variable speed trigger that lets you further control your speed in any mode.
While it’s not the most powerful cordless impact driver on the market, it’s clear Kreg is prioritizing a compact design rather than the highest performance. If size is something you value in a tool, this impact driver will perform well for standard driving tasks in your shop or jobsite.
- Model: Kreg KPTBDV025A
- Max speed: 2900 RPM
- Max torque: 2200 in-lbs
- Variable speed trigger
- 3 speed settings

Kreg 20V Ionic Drive 7 1/4-inch Circular Saw
Next, we have the first of two circular saws in Kreg’s cordless roster. This is the larger model, with a 7-1/4-inch blade. At 90°, it can cut up to 2-7/8 inches deep, and it can easily cut through 2x material at 45°, with a max depth of 1-7/8 inches at that angle. You can bevel it from 0° to 57° for a variety of cut types for any crafting/building project.
It features a brushless motor that spins the blade up to 4200 RPM. While this is a bit slower than most top-shelf 7 1/4-inch circular saws, it won’t hinder you much on shorter cuts, and may be tuned to provide greater torque.
- Model: Kreg KPTBCS725A

Kreg 20V Ionic Drive 4 1/2-inch Circular Saw
Now for the smaller of the two circular saws, Kreg’s inline 4 1/2-inch model is ideal for smaller cutting applications. If you routinely slice 2x4s, plywood, trim, and other lean pieces, this saw offers plenty of power for those jobs while taking up minimal space. At 90°, it has a max cutting depth of 1-11/16 inches, and at 45° it can cut through material up to 11/16-inch thick.
Like the model above (and the rest of Kreg’s 20V lineup), it features a brushless motor. The small blade also offers faster cutting speeds than its 7 1/4-inch brother, reaching top levels of 5000 RPM.

Kreg 20V Ionic Drive Barrel Grip Jigsaw
Next up is the Kreg 20V jigsaw, and the design team went with a barrel-grip blueprint. Some find this design easier to control, as your hand rests closer to the working surface to help with more intricate cuts. It reaches top blade speeds of 3800 SPM, with 6 speed settings to control your cutting rate. There are also 4 orbital settings to customize your cutting action depending on your material.
You can set the bevel angle from 0° to 45°, with detents at 22.5° and 45° for easy angle identification. Dual LED work lights sit on either side of the blade for additional visibility of your cutting line. When you need to switch out your blade, Kreg outfitted this jigsaw with a simple tool-free lever-action release.
