Metabo 18V Shear Takes the Work Out of Metal Cutting
In addition to the Metabo 18V nibbler we looked at recently, the company also expanded its cordless line with the 18V Shear (model Metabo SCV 18 LTX BL 1.6). And, like Metabo’s other metal cutting solution, this one benefits from the brand’s 2nd-gen brushless motor to offer users an excellent size-to-power ratio, a slim grip, and what looks to be fast cutting in sheet metal.

Metabo 18V Shear Features
The Metabo 18V Shear features a 2nd-generation Metabo brushless motor that generates anywhere between 1,300-4,840 strokes per minute. This lets you effortlessly snip through 14-gauge aluminum or non-ferrous metals, 16-gauge carbon steel, and 18-gauge alloy/stainless steel. It has a minimum curve radius of 1-9/16″ as well. It looks and functions very similarly to the Trumpf N 160 nibbler we reviewed earlier in 2020 but with a shear head for smooth cutting in sheet metal.
The Metabo 18V Shear also includes a handguard to keep your digits safe. A speed selector lets you set your ideal speed, while a lock-on switch helps you make longer cuts without holding down a trigger. The rubber covering on the slim grip also ensures those cuts are as comfortable as possible.
When it becomes readily available, you can pick up the Metabo 18V cordless shear as a bare tool or as a kit. The kit includes two 4.0Ah batteries and a charger. In either package, the shear comes with two blades, two hexagon wrenches, and a feeler gauge.
