Mileseey DP20Pro Laser Distance Measure

We’re teaming up with Mileseey to tell you more about their DP20 Pro Laser Distance Measure. Even if you’re used to working with LDMs, this one is on a whole other level.

Mileseey DP20 Pro Laser Distance Measure – Why It’s Special

Mileseey DP20Pro Laser Distance Measure

Right out of the box, you can see that the DP20 Pro is different from other laser measures. It’s larger, about the width of two standard LDMs. That’s because there are actually two laser distance measures on board.

There’s one each for the left and right sides, plus a center laser to use as a reference mark on the surface. As you would expect, the measurement is calculated to include the housing. The cool thing is that you can use the left and right measures at the same time and get an accurate reading. There’s no need to move all the way to one wall or the other.

There’s a 1/4-inch tripod mount built in, so you can set it up wherever it’s most convenient for hands-free use. Even when you’re going with handheld measurements, there’s a built-in level that shows up on the OLED display so you can be confident you’re getting a good reading.

Controls

You can take a full range of measurement types by pressing the “Mode” button to cycle through them. There are length, area, and volume calculations. As you use the Mileseey DP20 Pro Laser Distance Measure, a handy indicator on the screen reminds you which measurement you’re currently on. Just follow the cues as you go and the DP20Pro will do all the math for you.

Area Mode

If you want to enter continuous measurement mode, long press the center button once you turn the unit on.

The leveling feature also brings in a couple of additional functions. The Auto Level Measurement automatically measures the horizontal distance and corrects for the angle. When you want a quick but accurate single-distance measurement, it’s the mode to use.

Using Auto Level Mode

Advanced Pythagorean Functionality

The Auto Height Measurement lets you measure two points and gives you the vertical distance between them. It’s perfect for quickly measuring height without having to get on the ground for a Pythagorean measurement.

Measuring Height

One function on the Mileseey Laser Distance Measure that’s particularly handy for interior decorating comes to life when you press the 1/N button. It takes the horizontal distance with a two-laser measurement and breaks it into even intervals. 1/2 indicates when you split the distance in half, 1/3 indicates when you reach 1/3 and 2/3, and so on. You can split the distance fractionally all the way to 16ths.

A beep indicates when you reach each target, and the display also shows you which interval you’re on. Kick the center laser on to give you a visual cue right on the wall and use the built-in level to help ensure it’s perfectly vertical.

As you’re measuring, expect ±2 mm accuracy with measurements to the 16th of an inch in fractions or to the 1000th of a meter or foot in decimals. The overall range is 120 meters/394 feet.

If you want to save your measurements, one way to is to use the onboard memory. Once you have a measurement you want to store, press the memory button and save up to 20 measurements.

You can forget about keeping a bunch of AA or AAA batteries on hand. The DP20 Pro has a 1000mAh battery that recharges via USB-C. Slide the charging door open, plug it in, and the unit is ready to go for your next project.

Mileseey DP20 Pro Laser Distance Measure App Coordination

If you want to step up your smart tools game, this also connects via Bluetooth to the Smart Life app. Once inside, the app displays each measurement as you take it and holds them, even if you shut the meter or the app off.

Measurements

Shifting over to the second tab, you have options for a layout or overlays for photos. For the layout, you draw the floor plan of the space you’re measuring, tap the length you want to add a measurement to, and then take the measurement with the meter. The app automatically applies it. Just tap and measure to fill in your other measurements.

Layout

Alternatively, all of your recent measurements live at the top of the screen and you can select them from there to fill the fields if you like. Tap the length you want to notate and then tap the measurement you want on it.

Working with photos is similar. Once you take a photo with the app, you can draw in the distances you want to remember. Tap the dimension you want, measure it with the meter, or select previous measurements from the top, and the app overlays it automatically.

Door

The other big feature is a spreadsheet form. Here, you can tap the field you want to fill, take your measurement with the meter, and the app fills it for you. Like the previous modes, you can also select your earlier measurements from the top instead of measuring on the fly.
