Pfister Pfirst Series Faucets Review

I got a chance to install the professional grade Pfister Pfirst Series 2-Handle 8″ Widespread Bathroom Faucet (LG149-61PK). Two, in fact. Pfister has come a long way since the first time I installed one of their faucets back in the early 2000s. Emil Price and William Pfister founded Price Pfister in Los Angeles back in 1910. Their first product was a garden faucet but quickly expanded to include indoor sink and tub faucets, valves, and hose nozzles. The brand is now part of Assa Abloy, who also owns Yale and HID Global.

Designed for a modern bathroom, the Pfister Pfirst Series faucets have a nice, simple aesthetic that should appeal to almost anyone. And, of course, they have dozens and dozens of choices for color, style, and application. I’ll cover installation and my thoughts about these faucets in general.

Pfister Pfirst Series Faucet Design

The Pfister Pfirst Series 2-Handle 8″ Widespread Bathroom Faucet drew me in with its simplistic but elegant style. Brushled nickel is the preferred color and material my wife and I prefer. It holds up well over time and resists corrosion much better than antique bronze. The LG149-61PK model we chose fits sinks with three widespread holes and features smooth handles and a gently swooping faucet.

The design fits easily into any modern bathroom decor. This faucet incorporates Pfister’s Pforever Seal technology (yes, they love their silent P’s!). Pforever Seal uses a ceramic disc valve that promises a never-leak experience.

You can mount this faucet on three-hole sink decks or countertops, giving you some installation flexibility. The faucet includes metal supply nuts, valves, and cartridges. They use a 50/50 pop-up drain assembly that doesn’t require a lift rod or handle. It’s super-convenient and lets you unscrew the stopper easily for cleaning and clog removal.

This Pfister Pfirst faucet features an efficient 1.2 GPM flow rate and the handles swing exactly 90 degrees to enable full flow. It has a removable, cleanable aerator. You can get the faucet in polished chrome, brushed nickel, or “Tuscan” bronze. Our brushed nickel version uses a PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) process which typically has superior wear and corrosion resistance compared to electroplating.

Installation

Having installed dozens of faucets in my life (not bad for someone who doesn’t make money as a plumber), I LOVE the simplicity of the Pfister Pfirst Series. After shutting off the water and removing our prior faucets, I set about inserting and securing the faucet spout. Pfister gives you a nice, wide mounting washer and a standard mounting nut to secure everything in place. I used a Milwaukee faucet swap-out wrench to do just about everything under the sink.

When you get to the handles and valve bodies, things get even easier. Here, you simply need to hand-tighten the provided mounting nut and then tighten it to the feed washer using a Phillips screwdriver. I’ve never used a simpler system and the faucets remain nice and secure. Just be sure to align the handles before you move to tighten those screws.

Next, I attached the center connector to the faucet and slid the end connectors onto the corresponding valve bodies. At this point, it was a simple matter to run and connect the hot and cold water supply lines to the faucet inlets.

Lastly, I disassembled the Push & Seal drain and installed it loosely while I aligned the trap underneath the sink and lined everything up. After that, I hand-tightened everything in place including the oversized plastic mounting nut. Again, Pfister has simplified the drain installation process to the point where I prefer it over every other system I’ve used.

Turning the water on, I checked for leaks in the supply and drain sides (there were none).

You can get the Pfister Pfirst Series Faucets at places like Ferguson or Home Depot. The faucet retails for around $258. Pfister provides a Pforever Warranty (there it is again!). This non-transferable warranty covers both finish and function for as long as you own your home.
