Activate Ridgid CAT mode to keep cats distracted and safe from jobsite hazards
Ridgid Tools announced a playful twist on a classic construction tool by integrating a “CAT mode” feature on their new Rotary Laser. This first-of-its-kind laser is designed not only to meet the rigorous demands of professional construction environments but also to provide hours of entertainment for your feline companions, whether they’re refined “shop cats” or adventurous jobsite wanderers you’d like to keep safely out of the way.
How Ridgid CAT Mode Works
CAT mode uses Chase Algorithm Technology to allow the Ridgid R87079B rotary laser to generate random patterns and movements with the laser head. CAT varies both the direction and intensity of the laser in this mode to engage and entertain felines for up to 60 minutes before shutting off automatically.
The clever algorithm creates varying, unpredictable movements that stimulate a cat’s natural hunting instincts. Combined with. the high-powered laser, it can effectively create a rapidly-moving dot within a 25-foot radius of the tripod in any direction.
“We have a lot of cats around the jobsite, and they can really lighten the mood for the crew—but they also get underfoot, and that can be dangerous. The Ridgid rotary laser gives us a way to keep them safe and out of harm’s way while we work,” said Chase Beemly, supervisor for Tabby Construction. “We set the laser up at the edge of the jobsite and turn on CAT mode. Then, the laser produces randomized movements and gives them something to focus on while keeping them far from any potential hazards.”
