Echo CS590 chainsaw

ECHO TIMBER WOLF CS-590 CHAINSAW REVIEW

When I was asked to review the Echo Timber Wolf CS-590 chainsaw as a heavy-duty saw, I’ll admit that I was a bit skeptical. I am used to some of the other big-name commercial saws and Echo just is not a brand that is traditionally mentioned in that mix. As I began to take a […]

Stihl MS 441 C-M Magnum

Stihl MS 441 C-M Magnum Chain Saw Review

For about a week now I have had the privilege of using the Stihl MS 441 C-M Magnum. I must say it is a big step up from my classic  Jonsered 670  which has the same 25″ bar length but slightly less displacement. Now, as in antiquity, bowls are most often turned from green wood ripped […]

Its Not The Size of the Tool

It’s Not The Size of the Tool | The Tool Fool’s Stool

How many of you have gone to a friend’s house and discovered that they’ve bought a new tool that they can’t wait to show you? Honestly, you’re sort of excited to see it because, you know, it’s a tool. And tools are cool. Then, they whip it out. Your jaw drops. It’s…It’s…well, there are no […]

dont operate chainsaw naked

Operate a Chainsaw Naked…Get Arrested

Rule #1 of operating a chainsaw: Clothing is NOT optional. Apparently, Lindsay Medd Stevens (a man) didn’t get that memo. He got himself arrested in Knoxville, TN for indecent exposure. How did this happen, you ask? As it turns out, his neighbor caught him cutting a tree down… while naked. Apparently, this had happened before. […]

ECHO CS-400 Chainsaw

Echo CS-400 Chainsaw Review

Reviewing a chainsaw can be a little tricky because we have found that people treat chainsaws and their brands like they do their vehicles. Ford hates Chevy, Dodge is better than Toyota… you get the idea. When we agreed to review the ECHO CS-400 18″ Chainsaw it was with the knowledge that we were going to put it into the hands of some guys who had years and years of professional tree trimming under their belts. The trouble was, they both used a competing brand. With a predisposition towards bias – because that’s just how we operate as humans – I submitted my product to them for use and tagged along to try it out alongside them, hoping to provide any necessary “balance” to their biased opinions. Turned out I got worked up over nothing… and they were downright surprised at how well the ECHO performed. One of them was quoted as saying: “this is the best chainsaw I’ve ever used that wasn’t touting itself as a pro-only model”. Not bad… not bad at all.

Stihl Recalls MS 361C Chainsaws

Stihl Recalls MS 361C Chainsaws

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), in cooperation with Stihl, announced a voluntary recall of their MS 361C chain saw (C-Q version). The throttle trigger may stick after it has been released by the operator, which could cause the engine to continue to run at a speed that drives the saw chain. This can pose a risk of […]

Husqvarna Intros 562 XP Chainsaw

Husqvarna 562 XP Chainsaw Preview

The Husqvarna 562 XP Chainsaw was touted by the company to be one of the most aggressive chainsaws on the planet. Now the company has introduced the 562 XP. Loaded with many of the same features that made the 576 XP so successful, they slimmed down the height and width of the saw chassis making […]
