Wurth Hands-Free LED Dual Work Light

wearing Wurth dual LED light around neck

With 200 total lumens produced by two independently pivoting LEDs, I got a lot of use from the Wurth Hands-Free LED Dual Work Light (model 0827500073). This versatile headlamp alternative lets you wear it around the neck or head while offering a couple of distinct advantages. I used it in the shop for several weeks working on brakes, transmission, suspensions, and more.

Pros

  • Hands-free illumination
  • Independent LED lights pivot 70°
  • Full day runtime (up to 9 hours)
  • Rests snugly but comfortably around the neck or head
  • Unobtrusive in tight spaces where a headlamp might get in the way
  • Run by 2AA batteries so you can replace without waiting to charge a Li-ion

Cons

  • You can find brighter and more color-accurate lighting

Recommendation

Wurth’s take on a wearable work light presents a couple distinct advantages over a traditional headlamp. First, the 70° independently pivoting LEDs do most of the moving so your neck doesn’t have. Second, the lights are unobtrusively worn around the neck or head which can help in tight spaces (under a dash or even with the vehicle on a lift) where a headlamp might get knocked around. Each light runs on a AA battery which means you can replace them easily without waiting for a Li-Ion to recharge, but they also don’t produce the brightest, crispest light available.

You Won’t Need a Hand

I must admit at the beginning that I really like my current headlamp, so I knew the Wurth Hands-Free LED Dual Work Light would have to overcome my bias. Fortunately, the Wurth design impressed me because it offers a couple distinct advantages.

Wurth Dual LED Work Light

First, the independently pivoting lights both move 70°. Sure, my current headlamp pivots about 45°, but it only illuminates where I point my head. It’s really more of a single point adjustment. Second, when worn around the neck, the Wurth Hands-Free LED Dual Work Light does the tilting for me. That means my neck doesn’t have to. I found that to be helpful for tasks that took a while to complete.

Of course, if you want, you can still wear the Wurth around your head. In that way it functions more like a regular headlamp. I never found the need.

Lumen Nation

Unobtrusiveness also defines the Wurth 0827500073 Hands-Free Dual LED Work Light. It’s an advantage to tuck it out of the way around your neck. It doesn’t sit atop your head like a regular headlamp.

It also offers dual LED lights. That means I can quickly point one to light up the general area, and point another nearby. It “splits the difference”, allowing me a wider area of focus.

Wurth Hands-Free LED Dual Work Light

The Wurth neck light also seemed less likely to get knocked around in tight spaces like under a dash or when I had a car up on a lift. I never had any trouble with it sliding around on me or dropping off the back of my neck. The design holds it in place pretty well.

Bright Idea?

The Wurth Hands-Free LED Dual Work Light runs on 2 AA batteries—one for each light. It delivers a total of 200 lumens of light output. For guys like me who often forget to charge small Lithium-ion tools, it’s comforting to know I can just pop in a couple of replacement AA batteries.

If I had a wish for the Wurth light, it would be for even more lumens and crisper light. Although the light is fairly bright and of good quality, there are worklights providing even brighter, higher quality lighting.

Wurth 0827500073 Price

You can light up your work with the Wurth 0827500073 Hands-Free LED Dual Work Light for $34.99. That’s a good price and something you can order without giving it too much thought. I find it easy to recommend since I got more than my money’s worth out of it within the first few days.

70-degree flexible directionality

The Bottom Line

The Wurth Hands-Free LED Dual Work Light offers the advantages of two independently 70° pivoting LEDs which are less obtrusive than a headlamp when worn around the neck. It produces a total of 200 lumens on 2 AA batteries and works quite well. You can find brighter, crisper light in other headlamps—but you’ll likely pay more.
