Bosch GSA18V-110

The Bosch GSA18V-110 Cordless Reciprocating Saw is Lightweight and Feature Heavy

A few years back, we took an in-depth look at the flagship Bosch GSA18V-125 reciprocating saw, and it made a great impression on our team. Now, we’re turning our attention to their latest model, the Bosch GSA18V-110 cordless reciprocating saw. Although slightly smaller in stature, it shows great promise for Pros and serious DIYers alike.

Bosch 18V ProFactor Cordless Reciprocating Performance

Bosch Reciprocating saw
  • No-load Speed: 2900 SPM
  • Stroke Length: 1-1/8 in.

This cordless reciprocating saw is a part of the Bosch ProFactor system and features their latest Biturbo brushless motor. It delivers up to 2,900 SPM with a 1 1/8-inch stroke length for faster material removal. Bosch tells us the performance level is on par with 11-amp corded models.

Orbital action

When we talk about cutting speed, we have to talk about orbital action. This saw has a simple on/off switch and gives you a huge advantage when you’re cutting wood. While there are more elaborate systems out there, this saw can definitely hold its own against the competition.

One key factor we always look for with reciprocating saws is some kind of vibration control. Bosch doesn’t have a fancy name for their counterbalance technology, but it’s clearly hard at work! We were able to make smooth cuts through some nail-embedded 2×10 without any excessive fatigue.

Bosch 18V ProFactor Cordless Reciprocating Saw Design Notes

Bosch GSA18V-110 profile
  • Model: Bosch GSA18V-110
  • Power Source: Bosch 18V battery
  • Weight: 7.1 lbs (bare), 9.25 lbs (with Core18V ProFactor 8.0Ah battery)
  • Tool Length: 17.75 in.

Overall, I really like the feel of this saw. It measures 17.75 inches from tip to tail and weighs 7.1 pounds as a bare tool. Adding the recommended ProFactor 8.0Ah battery brings the total weight up to 9.25 pounds—still not bad for a high performance tool!

From an ergonomic standpoint, the GSA18V-110 is well-balanced and easy to maneuver without being overly bulky. The rear handle and fore-grip are draped in a textured rubber overmold and offer some insulation from felt vibration and help prevent your hands from slipping.

Lock Jaw blade change

Bosch introduced their Lockjaw blade-change system to this reciprocating saw, and we’re glad they did! This system allows you to easily execute one-handed blade changes and lets you avoid touching any hot blades.

shoe adjustment

Looking at the business end, this saw has an adjustable, pivoting foot plate that adds an extra layer of flexibility while cutting. There is one small fly in the ointment, though. Bosch’s adjustment system is not tool free and requires you to use the on-board hex wrench to loosen a pair of set screws. This isn’t a dealbreaker for us, but it is a little less convenient.
