Jobsite Toughness for the Discerning Listener

The DeWalt DCR028B can run off of just about any battery in your DeWalt arsenal. It accepts 12V Max, 20V Max, and FlexVolt batteries. Or, you can save your batteries for your tools and just plug this radio into the wall. It includes a USB power port so you can keep your phone charged. Basically, the DCR028B has access to power no matter what situation you find yourself in.

But, this sort of versatility is really only meaningful if the radio can stand up to typical job site abuse. Fortunately, the DeWalt Bluetooth Jobsite Radio features a roll-cage design. Based on our experience with DeWalt’s other radios, it should stand up to drops and impacts on both concrete and packed dirt. The handle even stores and protects the antenna when the radio isn’t in use.

The DeWalt Bluetooth Jobsite Radio features a pair of 3.5-inch woofers and 1-inch tweeters to produce stereo sound. A bass reflex port—basically a way to reach deeper into those low frequencies—rounds out the sound with a beefier bottom end.

As you might expect from any radio, you get full access to all AM/FM stations. DeWalt also gives you 6 presets so you don’t have to scroll through every station available just to find your favorites.

Finally, you can use the Bluetooth capability to stream your favorite podcasts or playlists from your smartphone or tablet. We probably use this source the most on our own radios—next to the radio, of course. The DCR028B claims the typical Bluetooth connectivity range of up to 100 feet. YMMV. And, yes, DeWalt includes an Aux port for those of you still streaming from more archaic sources.

The DeWalt DCR028B Bluetooth Jobsite Radio retails for $149 from anywhere DeWalt tools are sold. It comes with DeWalt’s 3-year warranty, 1-year free service agreement, and 90-day money-back guarantee.
