EGO’s First Generation Earth Auger Premiers with a Strong Start
EGO has announced several products coming to its 56V battery platform in late 2023 and early 2024. Among them is the EGO Power+ Earth Auger, which promises some impressive runtimes and a number of intuitive design features. We’re going over its performance and design ahead of its release to give you an idea of what to expect.

The EGO EG0803 Earth Auger runs on the brand’s 56V battery platform, eliminating the fumes and maintenance associated with gas augers. It delivers up to 65 ft-lbs of torque, letting it bore into hard, rocky soil.
Using the 56V 4.0Ah battery included with the kit, this auger lets you dig up to 50 holes per charge. It has two speed modes, as well as a reverse function for efficient digging in any soil type.
The EG0803 also features an ergonomic handle design, with the controls at your fingertips. You can control the digging speed using a thumb dial on the right handle.
Additionally, this machine is equipped with anti-kickback protection, which safeguards you from unexpected jams to prevent damage or injury.
Above the battery slot, you’ll find indicators for overload protection and kickback prevention, as well as the battery level indicator.
Finally, the EG0803 auger features a universal bit connection that’s compatible with ice and earth bits for added versatility in a variety of environments.
