Klein Self-Leveling Green Cross Line Laser Test and Measurement Reviews

Klein Self-Leveling Green Cross-Line Laser | 93LCLG

Klein Opts for Bright, Visible Green Laser

Klein added the 93LCLG Self-Leveling Green Cross-Line Laser to its lineup of Pro measurement tools. Red lasers present better value for smaller spaces, but companies like Klein seem to be breaking ground with budget-friendly highly-visible green lasers.

Key Features

The most notable feature of the Klein Self-Leveling Green Cross-Line Laser is the switch from standard red to the more visible green laser. But, there’s more to the 93LCLG than just green lines projected on a wall. Independent controls on this cross-line laser let you project horizontal and vertical lines separately or in tandem. This opens this tool up to better help with a variety of alignment and layout jobs.

Klein also added plumb spots to this tool, though they use red lasers since these are much simpler to see and typically closer in distance.

We like that Klein offers several mounting options for their self-leveling green laser. You get an integrated magnetic mounting bracket with both 1/4 inch and 5/8-inch tripod mounting threads. Rare earth magnets let you stick the laser to steel studs, beams, or electrical panels. It even comes with a mounting clamp for attaching it to ceiling grids.

The Klein 93LCLG can withstand drops from 2 meters and under, and it has an ingress protection rating of IP54. When it comes time to change batteries, the laser informs you with its low battery indicator. Klein designed the battery compartment for easy accessibility.

I have this laser, and my only complaint is that the magnets on the bracket aren’t strong enough to stick the level to the corner bead of finished drywall. My primary use of a laser level is getting wall mounted TVs, cabinets, etc, level. Attaching to the corner bead (which my DeWalt DW087K, as well as the DW088CG, can do) makes for quick and easy setup in the height range I normally work in. The vertical line projected by Klein’s 93LCLG stops short of directly above the unit on a ceiling, whereas the DeWalt projects well behind the unit. Another… Read more »
