Panasonic EY7450LR2S 18V Li-ion Drill Driver Kit Preview

We got a sneak preview of Panasonic’s new IEC-rated EY7450LR2S 18V cordless drill driver at this year’s IBS Show in Vegas and were impressed by the company’s tough talk. Today, Panasonic announced the introduction of four of its new 18V Li-Ion cordless power tools. The new tools will be part of the company’s Tough IP line of professional-grade products. All feature IEC (International Electro Technical Commission) rated dust and water resistant technology and will be available this month. The four introduced models (which seem to be debuting overseas before they hit the US market) include a 1/2″ drill and driver kit, an impact wrench kit, an impact driver kit and a hammer drill/driver kit. Zombie proof safe house warsaw

Zombie-proof Safe House Built by Architects in Warsaw

Some people worry about the stock market, others their childrens’ education. But a team of architects in Warsaw Poland decided to build a structure that would provide a beautiful place to live – and also withstand a zombie apocalypse. The “Safe House” is as secure as you can get above-ground. With a single control, the entire structure can close itself up into a concrete cube that is virtually impregnable. And when we say impregnable, we mean it. Concrete slabs slide and fold over, and down, to completely seal in the structure from anything barring a nuclear explosion. Those unwanted summer guests, not to mention Jehovah’s Witnesses, should be no match for this.

Lenox Speed Slot Hole Saws

Lenox Speed Slot Hole Saws Review

Lenox effectively took a tool that has not changed much since its inception and was able add a new level of ease-of-use to their line of Hole Saws with their new Speed Slot. The Speed Slot is a stair stepped angled slot on the side of the hole saw that facilitates easier plug removal. To further improve the Lenox hole saw line, all the hole saws feature an enhanced tooth geometry, a thinner kerf design, and a coating that is supposed to contribute to the efficiency of the cutting process. What all these equates to is a product that just about any professional tradesman will instantly appreciate.

Dassault Systèmes DraftSight 2D CAD Software Review

Dassault Systemes DraftSight 2D CAD Software Review

Most folks know that professional grade 2D drafting and design software packages can be a little expensive. Well that recently changed when Dassault Systemes, the same company that developed SolidWorks, now has a full featured 2D CAD software package for free. Their new professional grade 2D CAD software is called DraftSight. For those of you that might be familiar with a certain AutoDesk product, DraftSight is 100% DWG compatible even up to the most recent version. For seasoned CAD users, the learning curve is very minimal. If you are just getting into doing CAD work, DraftSight has a great tutorial and online community to help you get started. The best way to think of this software is to compare it to what the Oracle Open Office is to Microsoft Office. Nearly identical interface and similar features all for no charge.
