Klein Tools Kurve 8-18 AWG Heavy Duty Wire Stripper

Klein Kurve Heavy-Duty Wire Stripper 8-18 AWG

Klein has a remarkably deep bench of hand tools with over one hundred fifty types of pliers alone. More than fifty of those are strippers/cutters/crimpers. Today, I have one of the brand’s newest additions, the Klein Kurve Heavy-Duty Wire Stripper. The “Kurve” moniker is a stylized reference to the curve in one of the asymmetric handles designed for […]

Types of Pliers and Their Uses: Training the Apprentice

Pliers are some of the handiest tools to have around because they can be used for cutting, twisting, clamping and more. When we look for a pair of pliers to purchase, we always take note of the handle material, how tight the hinge feels, how precise the cutting surface or teeth are in the jaws and of course the over all quality of the tool.

Klein Tools 9-Inch Angled Head Diagonal Cutting Pliers

If there’s one eternal truth about electrical work, it’s that wires need cuttin’. And what company has more experience with wire cutting tools than Klein whose first product in 1857 was, in fact, a pair of side cutting pliers? Now Klein offers many different types of wire cutters, one of which is the Klein Tools 9-Inch […]

Milwaukee Gen II Combination Wire Pliers panel

Milwaukee Gen II Combination Wire Pliers Review

When we reviewed the original Milwaukee 6 in 1 Combination Pliers and the Milwaukee 6 in 1 Long Nose Pliers several years ago, we felt they were adept tools that offered a lot of features most electricians would find extremely useful. Indeed, our own Ben Parker who does this kind of work for a living, agreed wholeheartedly once we put them […]

Klein Tools 11061 Self-Adjusting Wire Strippers Cutters

Klein Self-Adjusting Wire Stripper Cutter

We don’t normally recommend checking out strippers, but in this case we’ll make an exception. Two new Klein strippers/cutters came to the market, and they have some nice features for electricians. First off, the company improved on its popular Katapult wire strippers by adding a built-in 8-22 AWG wire cutter. The Klein Self-Adjusting Wire Stripper […]

Klein-Kurve Dual NM K1412 Wire Strippers/Cutters Review

Klein-Kurve Dual NM K1412 Wire Strippers Review

There’s something about having good hand tools. When you’ve got them, you never want to go back to anything less, and when you don’t have them, they really make an impact when you finally get to a point where you can put your hands on something that’s really designed well and performs perfectly for the job at hand. When we decided to rewire a two-story 1920 home in our neighborhood, it was obvious that the job would require great hand tools. For all of our wire stripping needs, we turned to Klein and their Klein-Kurve K1214 Dual NM (Non-Metal) Cable Strippers. These are reported to be among the best 12/2 and 14/2 wire strippers you’ll find on the market and they are something we see a lot of out in the work force.
